  • help me choose a bike

    Hi all,

This is my first post in this website.Well, i'm planning to buy a new bike. let me put my needs in so that it becomes easy for the experts out here to help me.

    1) I will be traveling daily for 50 kms on very good roads(city+ highway)

    2) I need a comfortable, reliable and a well handling bike.

    3) I expect atleast 45kmpl. I prefer to cruise at the speeds of 70 to 80. I'm not looking for a below 150 cc bike.

    My choices are:

    1) Honda Unicorn: I'm more inclined to this bike but it's a outdated. unicorn suits my needs perfecttly.

2)Bajaj pulsar 220 dtsi: I like this bike too especially the tubeless tyres and rear disc break but am not sure wheather i will get 45kmpl in this and also my experience with bajaj has not been great.

you guys can add more bikes to the list.
    thank you.

if u feel the Uni is outdated look at the GS150R or otherwise the (yuck!) Hunk

@vipin_s, good video there... saw this somewhere abt 5 years ago when the Uni was launched... seeing it again now!

Unicorn or GS150 sounds good for ur requirement. The 220 might not give u a consistent 45 kmpl. If u can sacrifice some smoothness for better acceleration/handling u can try the RTR Fi/180.

              For mileage and performence part..
The best blend for you would be
              Apache RTR 160Efi
              50+kmpl..
Superb acceleration!! (am fan of that racing throttle response)
Awsome city tourer come stunter come handler and breaker come good showoff come simply superb!!

Suzuki GS150 meets your requirements the best. Check out the ownership thread here

the uni or GS it is...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

You are into typical Unicorn domain with your requirement, buy do give GS150 a try before finalising anything. If you find nothng different in them apart from the 6th cog, You might even save time by not having to wait for a Unicorn (Unicorns have looong waiting periods)

thank you guys for the input. I had a word with a Honda dealer and said he has Unicorn in stock. here in Delhi i think there is no waiting period for unicorn.

Well, I was considering suzuki gs150r too but saw some negative things like rusting problem, rear brake issues etc in the ownership thread. So decided to drop it from my list.

Apache might not suit me because am a tall guy and am not much into stunting and acceleration.. In fact my priorities are rear disc breaks, Tubeless tyres etc. That's the reason why i was considering pulsar 220 dtsi.

Guys! if we ride a 220 cc pulsar at a decent speed of about 70 to 80, can we fetch 45kmpl?

I don't want to take the decision of buying the bike quickly because i cannot change my bike for another 3 year at least.

                          ^^
you can expect 40.... but 45kmpl is a bit optimistic...
                          pulsar 220 dts-fi clocks 145kmph!

dude y didn't u include fz in ur list..it can give 40-45 kmpl..itz a descent bike blended with style, power, mileage and stability.it might give the least mileage among 150cc bikes, but itz considered to be the best among them except mileage
