  • Help on 125CC Bike

    Hi Friends,

I am planning to purchase a bike for my dad. Previously he was driving a Yamaha YBX. and now im looking for a 125CC bike, price around 55k and mileage around 55kmpl. So please suggest some good bike which i can go for. my primary requirement is good comfort and decent pickup and good mileage.
i have option like super splendor, TVS Flame. please suggest some more if any or give me the suggestion on these 2.

any sour experience(s) with the YBX?

Gladiator is the best in comfort and handling. It suits all ur requirements perfectly. If it is for dad the I Suggest you look no further than this. BTW, not the SS/RS models. The older model.

If your dad liked the ybx... Then gladiator should be a good bike for him... Both of em have the same engine... But gladiator's engine is super refined... Its within 55k and will give a mileage of around 55-60 if ridden properly...

I'll go with the gladiator too...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

Previously I have gladiator SS and believe me this is great bike in 125 CC segment. Now I have R15, but still I am missing my Gladi.

This is the best choice for your requirement and Yes, your daddy are old customer of Yamaha then I am sure, he will not satisfied other then Yamaha.

                  +1
I would also have suggested stunner here but the ride height and all may not be for his liking so ask your dad to have a test ride of Honda shine and Yam Gladiator to choose the bike that suits him.. Won't go wrong with either of them and are pretty good in the segment than the one's you've quoted.

Yamaha Galdiator or the TVS Flame are the really good 125s in the market today I feel.

If your dad have driven the YBX, than I assure you he wont like any of the current 125cc engines..

Personally speaking, YBX/YD125/Enticer was the best 125cc engine produced in India...till date...

Gladiator is also the same engine, but I feel its a little detuned, or probably tuned for a better mileage....!

It s a real pity Yamaha discontinued the Enticer. It was one capable machine.

For a change you could consider Zeus or may be Super Splendor,

                          > Both have good initial pick-up, both are torquey plus can carry load very well.
                          > Super Splendor has low seating and low CG hence will feel lighter.
                          > Zues cost is quite low for it's worth, Super Splendor has superior reliability.
                          > Both can cruise for hours in 70-80kmph range with 'full load'.
                          > Both give good mileage.

Alternatively, you could consider a scooters like Activa/Access.

                            In your case

I will not recommend you :

1 - Gladiator - Lesser mileage and unreliable parts
2 - Stunner - made for Youth Generation and lesser mileage

                            I will recommend you:

1 - Super Splendour - Good Mileage and excellent bike for Commuters - with good Low and Mid range Torque
2 - TVS Flame SR (not the old one) - Good Mileage and gives you extra Top End with more features
3 - Zeus and Heat - Both has good Intial Torque

Thank you Very much for your valuable responses

                              Hi Friends,

Thanks for every one for giving lot of good suggestions.
Already my dad had test drive with TVS Flame(2009 model) and he liked it. So better we will visit Yamaha show room and will have Gladiator test drive and let him decide which bike he need.

Then even we visited Hero Honda show room but the person there didnt gave test ride for super splendor and he said the vehicle will give mileage around 45 - 50 so we came back..
