  • Confused in selecting Bike? Need precious Advices from XBHPIans

    Hi Friends,

    I have wish list of
    FZ-16,
    TVS RTR-180,
    Fazer.
I would like to know from XBHPians who have these bikes and wat average they are getting, and any problems in these bikes.

Actually I was waiting for new ride from Honda stables but Hard luck no news of any Honda bikes releasing this Season. I am fed up waiting for Honda release. Though I like Unicorn, and comfortable with that ride, but I want change.
Guyz waiting for your suggestions!! Mod thanks for Approving in Advance..!!
Thanks and Regards to all the Posters..!!!

RTR 180 would be better for you to commute as well as tour & its a best performer too & after shelling out 74000 bucks for your RTR, you can even buy some riding jacket, helmet etc from the remaining pennies

Since you are going to commuting nearly 50kms x 2 during your office runs i would suggest getting the Fazer. It's got a smooth mill, a nice gearbox, and the seating posture is upright so you should have no trouble commuting that 50 kms two way. It's got sufficient power and good low-end torque for the Mumbai traffic. The FZ16 is also a good bet alongwith the TVS but the position on the both the bikes are a bit sporty. And since you are a honda fan i'd suggest you stick with the Yamaha options. The refinement is right up there.

Thanks Whizkid_ram and Wheel Spin for your views.

My drive will be mostly on Weekends, i.e long drive, but usually, it wud be with in my city, so wat abt the mileage of the mentioned bikes, i read, FZ16 drops the mileage, has this been modified in the newer verision. viz, Fazer and FZ-S series. or the performance of all are the same.

One more question, city roads are pot holed (thanks to our Great Corporaters neglected contributtion to the society),
will the Fazer's fairing will give vibe noise, i did had the experience on P220 (the owner of the p220 is rash driver) but though my only concern towards Fazer is the Fairing getting loosened and giving out noise after 5-6 months (thats my concern, not experienced on Fazer).

And Wat abt RTR-180's performance, like is it comfortable for the long drive's, it has great Sound (vroom vroom one). I like that

Once you will ride for a few days everything will be alright for riding 100 to 150 kms at a stretch.
Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

The Avg FE will be around the 40-45 mark. Though i have personally achieved an FE of 50kmph on the highway on a 6k kms ridden Fz16. The engine hasn't been touched at all in the Fz series.

About the pot-holed roads i can feel your pain. Don't worry about vibe or the noise either are not present on the Yamaha. The fairing doesn't vibrate due to any reason whatsoever. I took a longish TD of the Fazer i.e. around 20kms+ and fell in love with the bike. The upright position is just great for long distance and the mill is smooth and torquey.

The RTR is also a good traffic cutter but won't be as comfortable as the mono suspension Fz series. And gotta love that exhaust note.

My openion is go for fazer coz it has got the best looks in India, good riding posture, style, power, very refined mill, nice handling, sticky on roads etc!
No I never hav any loosend fairing problem with my R15 from august,08! So, I hope fazer must not have the prob either.
But It will give u 40kmpl in pure city riding!
                Not more than that..

dude for your purpose i think RTR 180 will be a great bike..

You can do citi riding with fun and thrill and will get 40+ mileage

but from your post you seem to be like the refinement factor more ..
RTR 180 will not be as refined as FZ or Fazer but it will be fun driving RTR

Even though i am a yamaha Fan i feel FZ and Fazer is over priced and underpowered. You will realise this sooner or later . buying Fazer 150cc at 80 k is a no no for me instead i will go for Zma or P220 . these bikes can make hell of a differeence from the feeling you get from Fazer. It all depend on personal likes anyway .

Fz also seems over priced and under powered . SO my suggestion
is Test drive RTR 180 .it may not be as refined as FZ so check the vibrations and different sporty riding poistion .It will be different from FZ but if you are ok with it go for RTR 180 it is complete value of money and packed with real goodies..

For your purpose i recommend RTR 180 . worth for every penny you give . but esnsure that you test drive it well (and at 5k-6k rpms) and ok with the feel it gives..

                  all the best ..

If you need more power, go for the RTR 180, else go for the Fazer. Test ride both the bikes and decide.

tough choice bet. Fazer and 180.
Fazer has a much relaxed seating position and i guess slightly better aerodynamics but poor millage, and the RTR has a sportier seating position and much better millage....now you make the choice

Fazer would be a waste of money.

FZ is a great street bike. It's really fun to ride it in city. Has good appeal too. But if you are planning to do trips, then I would not suggest this one. Pillion is also not that comfortable. Have heard that mileage is not a + factor

Now best option would be either RTR 180 or P180. Both good city bike. And can be used for tour also. Both has good appeal.

fazer IMO is definitely overpriced...FZ should be a better choice considering your requirements.Having said so,I'd recommend you to have a test ride of RTR180...Who,knows,you may like it even though the engine's not completely smooth and also it's a better VFM buy...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch
