    I test drove the Disco 100 for a friend last month, and it was lovely. Goot fit and finish, wonderful looks, and great performance. And good mileage is assured because it's it's a Bajaj, and cheap parts/service. It will last longer than a Caliber for sure, esp since the running is so low. In my experience though, Bajaj bikes don't like missed services and bad maintenance.

    I wouldn't recommend the Star, because it becomes useless after mere months due to harsh vibes. The bike still runs, but nothing will ever fix the vibes. Even if you get it fixed at every service, they will be back after 2 weeks or less. And the switchgear also goes bust, to the point where there is no feel at all. Just what I have seen on my friend's bike.

    As for the Yamaha, service, especially parts availability is quite bad. The engine is butter-smooth though, as is the gearshift. Plastics are prone to crack in the sun and rattle at the mounting points. And as i said on another thread, the alloy wheel spokes are really thin and not confidence inspiring. Also, the Libero/Alba will struggle on inclines with two up.
    This sig made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. And if you don't know what that means, you're not old enough to. :D

        Thanks for your info bro!!! As far as Star city is concerned, I din't like its looks even though I am not sure of its performance. But now I started feeling Discover100 is good and has a good VFM when compared to others in the same segment .

        How about the other previous Discover models ? Are they ok interms life and maintainance ? Could anyone throw some light on this ?

          I would recommend you to wait for Auto Expo 2010. Honda is also supposedly coming out with a 100cc bike, carburetted but claimed to be very much ahead the current crop of 100cc bikes. I am not posting the source, as it itself is not reliable.
          I just say wait for Auto Expo till Jan 1st week-if not anything else, you will atleast have a 2010 model manufactured bike!

                there are quite a few 125s i have ridden till date... I will put them in an order of my personal preference for various reasons.

                1) Stunner
                2) Shine
                3) Gradiator SS
                4) Yamaha YBX (Should be available in Second hand).
                5) TVS Star City

                your requirements are Bulky, wide wheel base and upto 50k.....

                Stunner ??
                1. Long Wheel base
                2. Good Handling
                3. very refined
                4. Bulky
                5. 5 - speed transmission

                shine is ok... but it is kinda hard on the engine with the final drive ratio and a 4 speed gear box... Even 60kmph will seem strained....

                If you are able to find a good condition YBX, spend a few bucks on it and you can keep belting it around the city for a long time without a lot maintenance... The Gladiator and the YBX Handle pretty much the same,... So its either the gladiator or the YBX..... The star city is pretty decent, but no way even near the Stunner of the Shine or the Yammies.... Just my personal opinion though....

                your ol' man should be happy with the stunner.... The CBF 125 is great bike....

                  Visited the Bajaj showroom in the evening. First thing I noticed even before I got to see the bike was the Fantastic showroom. Its probably the best showroom in my town(Vellore).The person at the reception immediately responded when i told her that i need to test drive the Discover 100. A service mechanic brought the bike outside, and to my surprise it was not a Black/blue,Black/red,Black/green Discover..It was a RED color Discover 100 which i had not seen before.

                  My test ride: The bike felt much much bigger than the Star City and there was plenty of room for my arms to extent freely.The riding position was spot on. It felt very much like a big 125cc-150cc bike. I knew my Dad will fall in love with the kind of comfort it offers. To my surprise the Engine and the Gearbox feel was fantastic.I did a 5 minute ride in heavy traffic and still felt pretty much comfortable. After the ride I had a huge smile on my face!! The last two days have been a revelation. Not even in my dreams did i think that 100cc bikes would have become so damn good!!

                  So we have decided to pick the Discover 100 in the first week of November. Color- The Stunning Dark red color which i took for the test ride!!..

                  Here are some pics of the bike i test rode.

                  One of the least hyped but very useful feature on the Discover DTS-Si (like on other bikes from Bajaj) is the DC lighting.

                  Congrats on your purchase.

                    @Sarvajit

                    Yes bro !!! I am planning to wait till Jan for taking the new bike becoz I can get 2010 model. As you have mentioned, we can wait till the Auto Expo and can see about the new launches.

                    @udayrrr

                    Thanks for your info. But more hype is created on HH products and HH is making the price of its product to be high when compared to others becoz of its popularity. That is the reason I am staying away from HH, though their products are good.

                    @wonderboy_tm

                    Even I like stunner but that is too sporty in looks considering the age of my father. I am also a die hard fan of Yamaha but YBX at second hand is not worth becoz it cannot be brought back to original condition as in case of RX's. Initially I considered Yamaha Alba/Libero but there were no proper reviews given on them and that is the reason I dropped that and went for choosing Disco/Star city.

                    But even now I have a soft corner for Yammie. If at all some one gives a good review on Alba/Libero, I ll close my eyes and go for it !!!!

                        Yes vikaskurup, I too started liking Zeus after having a test ride last week. It has a very very strong low end pull that it pulled me with a pillion (SC guy), at 5th gear, from 25KMPH. The bike is also very smooth as Shine. But only one thing tha strikes my mind is that there are no much good reviews on the bike. Also since the bike is not running well in the market , wat if Suzuki decides to stop this model ? Spares prob ll arise then........

                        The only prob I mentioned above is making me to stop and think. orelse Zeus is superb for the middle aged people because of its great low end pull.
