  • Help me choose my Bike!

Hi Guys, i am a member & a frequent visitor of this site but i dont post a lot, i guess i dont get enough time...

I have a Yamaha FZ16 which has done 6000kms and is 11 months old and now i am planning to sell it off and upgrade to a more powerfull bike, my budget is 80k and my requirement is a bike with awesome pickup, i dont go for long rides so no tourer for me, and i am not keen on the mileage part.

All i want is a bike which has amazing pickup as i am a guy who loves to play around with the first 3 gears, i am not interested in the bikes top speed... sounds very odd but thats the way i am so please guys let me know which bike would suit my need:

    TVS Apache RTR 180
    Hero Honda Karizma R
    Baja Pulsar 220 Dts-i

By the way i am 5-10 and weight 75kgs, just FYI

    Thanks inadvance

Why would you wanna give up the FZ16 in that case @Syedali_m the FZ performs best for this requirement and of the bikes 150 cc segment FZ is the best bike for that mid range grunt where you can keep the bike the 5.5 to 6k rev range and freak out. Pity they dont sell the RX anymore. If you re that bent upon changing your bike my vote would go for the RTR 180 of the choices you' ve listed which is very punchy thru all the Rev ranges and is quite a potent streetfighter. Whilst the Karizma R is a brilliant sports tourer whre you could ride the bikes in near top speeds and cover huge distances and the Pulsar 220 well Dts-i well is a all round performer but is not as flickable as the RTR 180. But i really hope you stick with your FZ.

the p220 is the best IMO...but yes,FZ suited your requirement perfectly.

Go for the 220. You'll feel a huge difference in power as compared to the FZ.

Dude since you want to play through the first 3 gears, RTR should be good , P 220 is great,But it will not show the urgency as RTR . It will never disappoint you

Thank you so much for the prompt responce, i really appreciate that

Bad news i already sold my FZ, i am not sure how the FZ suited my requirement as i had it for a year i personally think that its one hell of an over rated 150cc bike, i am not sure about other fz's but mine was horrible, i solf my pulsar 180 and bought the fz16 and honestly i was disappointed by the bikes performance, no pickup and on top of that no mileage Aarghhhh!!! The 11 months i spent with that piece of metal were horrible ...

Any ways i agree with what you say about the RTR 180 how ever i test rode it and i feel cramped on that bike i mean after riding the huge FZ for a year the RTR seems punny and tried the zma and it felt amazing how ever the stance was preety commuterish & its not proper value for money so i have booked the P220 as i think it has the combination of every thing ... & some one said RTR is better pickup wise, i dont agree as the P220 can reach 0-60km quicker compared to the RTR 180

Anyways guys let the suggestions pour in as i can still change my mind as i have 15 days for delivery

                    KarizmaR
                    RTR 180
                    P220 DTSi
I have booked the P220 but i am still not too sure about it as i have gone through its post and have come accross a lot of complains ... Man i am confused!
I just need a bike which is zippy and has the accelarates harder then the rest ...

I dont understand why u never considered the R15. maybe because of the budget???
Well anyway, I would say u have made the right choice by choosing the Fastest Indian. Although, of late, I have heard that it has a lot of issues.
But still, the 220 will fly.
Get good riding gear as u sound like a speed demon.

+10 for flickability of the RTR. Man that is one street fighter well suited for our road conditions. As soon as you sit in the saddle, the feeling you get & the control you feel on the bike is very addictive. Its a different story that the old RTR160 with the TVS tyres would make you lose control faster than you wished.
