  • Best 600 Around

Hello Xbhpians.. like many of you might be aware that i have sold off my suzuki GSXR 1000 and now am looking for a new SBK.. but this time i have decided to go in for a smaller version.

Now my dilemma is that which 600 cc machine would be best
My requirement is a mix of City Rides / Track days & Long Tours too.
My options as of now are a Yamaha R6 / Honda Cbr 600 RR / Suzuki GSX R 600. Please Help me out in choosing the best option from the above.

P.S. Iam open to any other brand or model as far as it meets my requirement.

I personally do not like any of the above bikes. I prefer something like the Fazer600 S2, or the new Diversion 600 or if you are kinda tall, then the VStrom is a great machine though not very good for track, a trifle high.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Would you get a legal 600? I guess it's better to go for the bikes which are officially launched here. That way, you won't face problems of the the DRI.

I think i am on topic when i ask.. how do you plan to get a legal 600. I would really want to get one sometime next year.. (my 220 is only 2.5 months old so not upgrading v soon). And if there is some trick.. maybe I could even get a 400 (if thats possible/cheaper).. The thing is.. i dont want to kill myself so soon (considering the way i ride the 220).

If Fazer 600 doesn't suit, Ninja 650/ ER 6f should be a good choice. It's 2 cylinders though, with enough mid end torque. For track use, grippier tyres are advised. And it has a fairing too...
If 4 cylinders is what you want, Z750 might be it!

Honda Hornet might get the purpose done too, with 100bhp @ 10krpm or so. It's derived from a CBR 600, with softer tuning.

LEGALLY, you can wait for Bajaj-KTM Duke 690, a 654cc which should prove to be a better tourer, off roader, commuter, etc. than all these bikes, and also accepts normal fuel through a fuel map. But, not great for track use though...

Now, I haven't ridden these bikes, let me clear this... But any Sbk article in Press, I read it 2 times at least.
And these are just my opinions..

well am searching for a clean bike and have short listed 2 bikes.. the R6 is on a TR basis. The CBR & The GSX both are not legal so am skipping them as of now.. the hunt is still in for a clean bike. lets see what best i can get.

@Samarth.. thanks for the info bro.. will check out the models suggested by you.. don't have an idea about its availability as of now.. let me just check.

@ antz.bin well you don't get legal 600cc bikes here .. but the one i have searched is on a TR basis so i guess there would not be any problem as the papers are clean but its only for the R6.. am still open for other options.

does your interest changed or??? did i misread the above thread?

the best bike would be the CBR600 to ride, because its city friendly and has a decent performance to match it. But its the nimbleness in the city that keeps it ahead. I am looking at a sbk, but in a years time, and its gonna be the CBR.

                    @josh - how much would a 600 cost???

My offerings to the gods of speed -

                    - KTM Duke 200
                    - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

Excellent choice for a Damn good bike. I have known quite a few people who have done quite a few thousand kilometres on that Kwacker and are totally in love with this bike!

Bingo! You are absolutely right. That was then. This is now! Things change. Times change. People change. Attitudes and priorities shift. After over 30K kms on Race Replicas, I am through with them. I like my sufficiently powerful touring bike. If you think touring on an R6 is fun, you are grossly mistaken! You end up breaking your back, wrists, have a week long stiff neck after every trip and will definitely end up with arthritis in your knees, shoulders, neck way before your liver cries foul from binge drinking!

@Josh - what happened to your 2010 R1 ? Never ever opt for an R6. It has the most radical riding position in the super sport class. Its fit one and only for track. Check with the R6 owners. CBR is the best all rounder. It has the best resale too.

Go for Honda CBR 1000 RR relieves you from unnecessary headaches as it is legal here & one of the very best in handling department...It fulfills all your requirements except the choice of 600 cc power mill

I am not sure of its touring capabilities but yeah it's sure gonna smoke the hell outta other SBKs on track with its mad revvy motor!
