  • Tall guy is looking for a bike

Hi I am 6 feet 3 and 1/2 inches tall. I want to buy a bike but unable to decide what should i go for. my options are CBZ

extreme and GS150R in less than 70k category and Thunderbird in 100k category. Few pros and cons of selected bikes are

CBZ tall bike, but old and technically less advanced

GS150R i think tall and overall a good bike but little plain looks.. don't know much about it

Thunderbird tall but lot of maintenance and also expensive (actually very expensive my budget is 70k)

above are my views may be i am wrong.

Please suggest me one of these or any other bike which satisfy as many as possible underlying criteria

1 should suit my tall stature (must)
2 should be stylish (flexible on this)
3 wants less maintenance (i am laid back guy dont want problem and issues which enfield or any other bike gives)
4 mileage is not an issue
5 resale value should be good as i will sell it after year or 2 (slightly important)
6 smooth sturdy and modestly performing bike is OK

I think i have given good enough information. Please help me make a decision. (though i know it will be difficult for you too )

    thanks Srijan

given your requirements cbz or gs150r is a good choice. If you want resale value you can go for the cbz xtreme. If you want a new bike which has whole new looks and also 6 gears gs150R will be it. Don't know about its resale value because its new in the market. Performance wise both the bikes are almost the same.

I wonder why you are not considering other bikes such as

karizma (since mileage is not an isssue)

ZMR ( it is as expensive as thunderbird)

P220 DTSi (best value for money)

rtr 180 ( small though. but you can test ride it.)

      and finally

other RE bikes . std 350 or the electra? But you have to love the RE hence not worth buying it

Well i am ready to spend few more bucks but ...

Pulsar 220 DTSi is using a twin spark technology which wears out engine very quickly and hence lot of maintenance and less resale value.

Karizma... dont know much about it

RTR is a TVS bike ..tech wise i doubt its reputation

RE ... I dont believe in irrational love

        So now what you think

twin spark tech has so far not been known to wear out the engine.

the RTR's tech isn't to be doubted either- except for the odd case, tvs bikes perform flawlessly, and reliably. but the RTR is prolly outta question here, considering your height.

come to think of it, the karizma seems the best choice for you- its suited for tall riders, its reliable, is very smooth as well. but cuz of the new karizma ZMR, resale values may take a hit.

              Go for CBZ Xtreme

@newguy, Xtreme engine is not old, it's modified version of Unicorn engine which is tweaked to give more power. Unicorn itself is a gem of an engine, and Xtreme engine I should say is a step fwd. !! The bike feels damn comfortable for variety of physiques, test ride it to believe it !! Just regular maintainence is reqd., easy tio get 45+ mileage even in city drive.

I believe you should go with the CBZ Xtreme or GS150R and keep aside the other apprehensions. They are good, match your physique & ur requirement.

Look no further than the CBZ Xtreme ... I am 6'2 and I ride one ... Pretty comfortable ... The grooves on the tank accomodate the knees pretty well ... And it is quite peppy, trust me .. To top up, its got great touring abilities ..

Go for GS150R, it is butter-smooth to drive & also has best tacho in its segment, 6-gears, led tail et all..... Only thing is tyres which are not wide, but then seeing the characteristics of GS150R tyres are good for its capability. Xtreme is not much to talk about only except HH badge, Also if u are looking for an alternative other than your 2 choices... Go for new p180 bcoz its seating posture is definately for taller guys & U might find yourself pampered once u astride it.
You must be the change you wish to see in the world

Based on your criteria cbz extreme is best for you.

1 should suit my tall stature (must)

cbz is tall enough , and sitting posture will suit you

2 should be stylish (flexible on this)

beauty lies in your eyes, not in bike , my favourite is dare devil edition

3 wants less maintenance (i am laid back guy dont want problem and issues which enfield or any other bike gives)

HH bikes are famous for low maintenance

4 mileage is not an issue

                      will give decent 45-50 kmpl

5 resale value should be good as i will sell it after year or 2 (slightly important)

Here comes the best part : , If you will anounce to sell a Hero Honda at 2 AM in morning You will find some serious buyers

6 smooth sturdy and modestly performing bike is OK

Performance is excellent and it has the smooth unicorn engine .

I guess you should look at Yamaha FZ as well.

                        1. My 6'3" cousin rides it with no problems, though you should always take a test ride.
                        2. Very stylish.
                        3. You only have to spend on the regular services, like on every bike.
                        4. Returns anywhere from 40-50kmpl.
                        5. Being a Yamaha, that's the department where it takes a beating.
                        6. Very smooth engine; 0-80kmph is a breeze, though acceleration decreases from 80 to top speed (around 125 on speedo).

I think height doesn't matter go to showrooms check out the bike take a test drive and decide which sitting posture will suit you best with out causing any kindda back pain.

In my opinion will be if you are looking for a city rider yamaha r15 will do your job, but if you are looking for a tourer one thunderbird will be the best bet because of it's siting posture and reliable engine power. and If you want to do both and don't like the look of thunderbird then you can go for cbz extreme.
