i dont know abt the r15,but last week when i went to the yamaha showroom in hyd,and since i'm 6'2 ,the r15 was very short,so the showroom guy suggested me to wait till feb 2010 as there would be an "R-25" coming to compete against the ninga 250r..he said the pricing would be arnd the same as the ninja.. maybe this will help take ur decition...

im guessing a fazer 250 with half fairing? its there on the yamaha line up. the issue is its about 23-24 bhp and 135 kmph tops. The word is that it would be priced at about 1.7 lakhs.

Well if its True then it will Give Ninja a Run for the Huge Price of it.....
But the scenario seems to be a Lot more 250's are on the Line Up.....
Time for Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha to Wakeup......

@thunder - the fazer 250 would look great, but then in terms of performance the ninja will beat it way out.. thats the only gripe..

a single cylinder 250 at 1.7 lakhs does not sound good enough... yamaha can very well localize it and sell it for 10-20k more than the r15, YAM can also take a heavy beating (for pricing it at 1.7lacs) if bajaj comes up with something very similar with a very notorious price tag, and surely the fazer/fz 250 cant be comparable to the 250R in terms of power delivery.

                    2010 r-15 and new r-25??

A dealer here (KERALA) said that the changes to the 2010 R15 is purely cosmetic.. It will come with new faring, split seat and a fatter rear tire.. He says there won't be any tweaks to the engine as the current engine has not made up the required profit to compensate its development cost..

He also said that Yamaha will be launching two 250cc offerings in 2010 out of which one is said to be a sportsbike.. He says that the engine for this sports bike will be imported from japan while the rest of the parts will be sourced locally.. but don't expect it to be cheap.. He says that the new bike will be priced in the NINJA's price range.. but will be slightly cheaper than the NINJA.(by about 10k to 15k..)

BTW, he also said that the 1st 250cc offering will come in MARCH 2010..
While the second is expected in OCTOBER 2010..

It can be Indianized version of R125, sharing components from R15 and 125 engine from Gladiator(different tuned or tweaked). It can share more and more from hit bikes of Yamaha. As R15's engine costs significantly due to import, an locally made engine and sharing more and more components can definitely give a perfect poser's bike on R15 platform at a significantly lower price tag

That's just what I think, so please take it lightly and don't put my words to fire.

And i dint determine the price, it was what was told to me...
r125 will not be launched here...as stated by yamaha themselves...

Guys after reading all the threads and comments here... i visited the various sites of yamaha in ireland, germany,japan..even visited the site of this years tokyo motor show...and after all this i don't think yamaha will launch any uplifted versions of r15 this year... they may launch the r25 or the r8 late next year... but there is no chance for the baby r1....but still i am an optimist... keeping my fingers crossed
