    i. How is the performance compared to its petrol counterparts?
ii. What would be the service intervals?
iii. How good is the service backup from BSA?
iii. Any problems related to batteries?

1)Ofcourse performence is no-where near to the petrol engine..infact with a pillion it will be more dificult to even reach 35..but c'mon I haven't seen any woman riding a scooter o'er that speed too..the highest segment bike from YO[eXL] cost around 35k here in kolkata..n that looks like a scooter too..very very lightweight..

2)as far as the servicing goes there are 3parts i)charging properly ii)cleaning iii)lubrication

we never take it too the service centre for that..for cleaning u need to use water or mild detergent mixed with water but u have to be extremely careful because the electrical parts should not come into the contact of water..

u can lubricate with active 4T[castrol] or with grease..servicing cost is much lower than any petrol scooter..

though we never took it for servicing but u can do that from the dealer itself..

3)cant say because we dont have BSA

4)It is true that batteries will die after a certain period..but we are using it since july,2008 n havent faced any kinda problems related to battery..you just have to take care about the charging n discharging process..any battery will give optimum performance if it is charged and discharged properly n u'll find those process in ur manual itself...

actually there is no hassles for this kind of bikes,u dont have to have the road permit or license for these..so do take ur wife for a test ride..

and again if ur wife is not satisfied with these bikes do consider buying HH pleasure..bcz HH is known for it's service and all most everywhere u'll find a service centre and also FE is good but that is not ur primary concern i guess...

    HAPPY BUYING

and again if you are going to buy the electric powered scooter always buy the highest wattage one that will give u more speed but remember these batteries will die more early than those lower wattage scooters...but u kinda go about 13-17k with these batteries..new set of batteries will cost around 6k-10k..

My vote was for Dio if your wife could handle it easily.. bt since weight is problem, I think you should check out Pleasure and Scooty..

I have a HH Pleasure which is 3 yrs old.. It amazes me with super smooth engine, hassle free performance and easy handling in spite of the rough use...

I chose Pleasure against activa and access as they seemed heavy for ladies' use..
This one a feather in that aspect.. attains a speed of 70kmph on a straight road easily..

I love the service features like roadside help, spare parts availability and good network..
I would prefer this over scooty 'coz of the smoother engine.. Now comes with some cool graphics also I belive.. Check it out..

Hi debayan, thanks for the inputs. I am sure it would be more than helpful in finalizin the bike.

Actually aviator is on my mind. Primarly because I can ask my dad to use it if in case we leave abroad for a few months/years. HH pleasure might be a little girly for my dad to ride.

Let me ask my wife to test drive HH pleasure & aviator (or activa). I shall provide you guys the feedback once it is done.

          Thanks

For all those who have not ridden the Rodeo and Duro, I urge them to ride them once.
Simply the best machines when you talk about low and mig range performance.

                  @Topic

Buddy, lower saddle heights, lighter weight, peppy engine and some lovely innovative features loaded in along with very competitive prices, Rodeo (or Duro) are probably the best machines for your type of needs.

It really justifies the tag line ''why should boys have all the fun!''

Yes, I understand that Scooty & HH Pleasure are proven bikes. HH pleasure is known for its ultra smoth engine.

As suggested by DevilPulsarian, I would also do a test drive of the Mahindra Rodeo & Duro.

Yes, Do check out Rodeo. Looks a promising one. Rodeo and Duro are almost same. Difference that Rodeo comes with Digital Speedo and RPM meters. But I dint like the finishing of the console.
