The bike is in good condition.
Should I go for it, is it worth 70k.
The term good is subjective, ain't it?
I mean, you must not only TR the bike for a good 10-15 kms on various speeds, plus also enquire in depth about the bike's service/repair history.

Has it ever crashed before? Any nagging problems with the bike?
    Any loan/warranty/mechanical/electrical issues?

In short, ask the owner - the reason for selling a 13K run bike for <50% of its OTR price.
If all seems genuine, please run head over heels for the bike. Its a steal!
Stay away if you're unsure. (Please seek help of senior xbhpians around your area. You may ask them to accompany you for the TR)

    Happy riding.

Never ever go for Pulsar if you are buying the bike second hand unless it comes in a touch and give situation.

Before buying bike you must see important parts
      • Mainly tyres - see both tyres how are they worn out
      • See if there is any accidents. Any broken gear lever or break pedal, done any welding anywhere, including petrol tank
      • Check the battery, rims, and also engine sound (get a mechanic to check out engine and pulling issues)
      • See if the break bite is well, if there isn't right breaking then break pads, whole drum might be in trouble. Also see about the front disc if it is worn out, before buying, you must make sure that you can get a new disc and break pads from the store.
      • check the chain and sprocket set life, if it is worn out.
      • check the mileage of the vehicle, the whole carburettor must have to be changed if the mileage is less.

The rate of the bike will depend on the conditions of the bike. You must understand in what manner you can afford when you buy.

some bikes are no problem where you need only to fill petrol and ride. And some bikes have some issues to be sorted out as I mentioned above. And for those bikes you can't give all your money and then again spend. Always keep the budget on mind when you buy a second hand bike because you can't simply waste all your earnings on the second hand babe.

These are the basic things and most of all you need to make sure that the bike owner wants to sell his bike in emergency money needs and not at his will spoiling the bike with rough use and then put the burden on someone else.

When you just take a test ride, you can find out nearly 70% issues, how the bike was maintained.

      Cheers

        [What Bike]: Second hand bike

        Hi,

I would suggest you to check out the online adds from OLX, Suleka and Quikr.
I bought mine after seeing the add in OlX.

Try to find a bike in areas closer you.
Go see the bike first before bargaining.
Take it for a test ride. If you are happy get your mechanic and check the bike.

If you can give cash within a day then you can easily bargain and get it below than the specified rate.

And for the question on which bike, my choice would be Unicorn. Reason would be that Unicorn even if its not maintained well it will not cause much issues. This is my personal opinion and observation.

        Happy hunting..

          Re: Second hand bike

Waking up this dormant thread cause I need some advice.
So my friend needs a bike.We both are studying mech engg,so decided to get some old crap and get it running.
Going to do most of the work ourselves with the help of a mechanic.
The bike does not need anything other than solid performance, riding fun.
          Does not care about mileage!
Only that the overall cost must be below 20k..or even more cheaper.
          2 stroke's,4 stroke's all welcome.
We don't plan to restore it to its former glory..but I would be painting it,getting it work perfectly, mechanically!
Bike will be used for only short commuting, fun rides.
          Some options I see:
Shogun, shaolin (almost dropped this idea due to lack of spares,at least all spares for engine rebuild should be available)
Fiero, apache 150(won't stay in budget most probably)
          RX(expensive),yezdi(don't know much about)?
We are trying to pick something with lowest initial cost, expecting to learn the hard way, rebuilding slow, step by step according to funds!!
          Advice welcome!

It seems like you would like good power in the bike which you would be going to buy, so the usual commutters, splendours/discovers/victors/platina/xcd are out.
So you could rather go for a 150cc (4 stroke) bike itself.
Suzuki Fiero seems to be the best bet, you could get a good one within the range of 20-25k.
The next one I could suggest is CBZ (Old model) or Pulsar Classic.
I dont know what price you could get a Boxer 150 second hand, I find this bike pretty good for the mods.

Regarding 2 stroke, You can get a Rx-100 for 20k eh? But the ones which you would get for 20k, guess you would have to put a lot to bring it to life!
"Madness", as you know, is a lot like gravity, all it takes is a little push !

That is true but parts are not easily available now as the production stopped years ago.

                    Re: Second hand bike

Nothing like a 2S for short fun rides. Yezdi will be quite expensive to own and maintain. You can opt for a stock RX 100 or 135, some well-maintained ones can be available in a range of 20-25k, though you need to look around a bit. Has a strong community presence and parts are still available.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

                      ^^ thanks for replies.
One thing guys, the real reason to get a new bike(when I already have apache+splendor) is cause me and my friend can pull it apart, put it back together, study, gain some practical knowledge about engine rebuilding, may be finally become a project for final year.
So what do I get cheapest?I am totally okay with non-running bikes too..
One more thing..thinking about engine swaps too..give some ideas to create some overpowered evil thing!

I sold a 2001 working fine splendor for 12000/- in 2011. Rip it apart, use in as a project, build it again, parts are cheap and sell it again for 10,000 after an year. All done within 6-7K of material costs apart from your expensive labor.
