Reviving an old thread. The question still remains. How do I get a Dirt Bike in India? Some years ago the Motocross scene was quite active. Don't see much action these days.
Most people modified RX 100's (modified meant removing the mudguards, lights and meters). Some went a step further with the custom front mudguard and a few with the mono shock mod.
Yamaha and TVS had factory teams with properly modded RX100's, Shoguns and Fieros. They also had a 250 category where Yamaha used an imported bike and TVS had a bike with some Italian engine.
For the common man Kawasaki Bajaj came out with the SX100 Enduro which flopped badly. More recently Hero launched the Impulse. Actually I see a large number of these in Goa these days. The mechanic who's working on my Fiero is the one who works on the Impulse's.
My question is: Can we import a proper Dirt Bike? Obviously it cannot be registered. So what are the formalities? What are the other options other than the Hero Impulse?
