+100 to this.Originally posted by moeed View PostIf you have the time and resources, go for restoring the rx. Or else, be happy with the 220.
I own a Rx & running into 10th year now. I've this bike for the love of having it. I ride about 60 Kms a day, if not for last 9 years, for atleast 3 months now (ofcourse excluding the holiday season). From my opinion, I find it comfortable & more easy to ride. This is the ownership story.
I haven't checked the mileage factor in all these years, I've changed so many parts to compatible ones in the past like gear box, cylinder assembly, front disk, rear suspension, carbs, speedo meter & now when I look at it, I just feel that I ride something that is like Rx100 & not the real Rx100. I clean up the silencer, do chain adjustments & lubrication, carbs, adjust brakes & most minor repairs. Apart from this, the gears are tight (no matter what you do
), the clutch cable is changed for every service interval of 3K to 4K Kms, just removed the batteries temporarily ('cause its eating up the frame) & all such teething issues. This is reality.
Right now I'm ambitious to restore this machine to stock & I've been in touch with Yamaha dealer most of the weekends. This is dream.
YMI has told me that they'll support with the parts with whatever they have & I keep waiting. Not sure when this dream turns to reality!!!
I'm not discouraging you from Rx, rather sharing you my experience with 19 year bike. If you have time, love for the grease & oil between your fingers & nails, minor cuts on your fingers, then look no further go for this white elephant
