    hello everyone,

my brother wants to buy a bike but the problem is being a soldier he is not in his hometown for about 3 months in a year.he resides in a village of Uttar Pradesh.

he is 5feet 10 inches weighing 75 kgs.
he wants mileage as well as power to which i think that it won't make a hole in his pocket since he is going to ride 3 months a year.

    i suggested him p220.
what do you guys have to say about it?
how important it is to feel strong,
    rather than just being strong.

the query is not clear . is he going to stay away from the bike for three months or with it for three . have you asked what type of bike he likes ?

Since he is an Soldier....he would have practiced riding the Army Bullets....
So its better he can prefer an Thunderbird or RE...... or else Avenger.....

If he is only gonna use the bike for commuting purpose and for only 3 months a year.....its better he switches to any commuter oriented Bikes which are jam packed in the market....

220 is not an Tool to ride and keep it without use for a long time (infact not any bike will be suitable for that)

                  Few of my Details

Height and weight - 5 feet 8 inches and 75 kgs
Riding nature - am a commuter which like to cruise between 90-100kmph, moreover am a 70% sane rider
Daily commuting - 30 kms(both too and fro from office),all in highway
Week end rider - not more than 50 kms
As a tourer - once in a 6 months, approximately 500-1000 km trip
Mileage expected - not less than 35 kmplSo I want a bike which can easily cruise (without stressing the engine) at 90-100 kmph for a non stop 1 or 2 hours, because i simply love that kind of riding and I want to use this bike for 3-4 years, My main confusion is between A180 and P220

                  P220
                  A180

My another option is this bike, and after reading the ownership experience I found it is more maintenance free than the P220.am really impressed with the brutal acceleration of the bike, have some vibration at 55-60 speed range, simply superb braking.
But at last one question, can this bike meet all the criteria mentioned above.

                  Zma-R

                  OTR price in kochi,Kerala
                  A 180 - 72,500
                  P220 -84,250
                  Zma-R -79,800
PS: The bolded lines are my main requirement

Current bike:P150 dtsi(ug 1),have been with me for longs 5 years, no problems till date ,done 60k+ kms, still haven’t opened the engine, but nowadays the engine become more rougher and rougher on long rides and cannot cruise above 70 kmph range, still giving the mileage of 45~50 kmpl.

So I want a bike which can easily cruise (without stressing the engine) at 90-100 kmph for a non stop 1 or 2 hours, because i simply love that kind of riding and I want to use this bike for 3-4 years, My main confusion is between A180 and P220

                    P220

Initially my mind was set for P220,I test drove my friend’s P220,but it was in running period, so cant taste the juice of it, I liked its cockpit, really superb, there was some irritating rear disk noise, but after reading the whole ownership experience of P220 in Xbhp,am really pissed off, lots of niggles and I cant frequently visit PBK as it is 40 kms away from my home and moreover lots of work load.

                    A180

My brain says go for A180 and my heart say go for P220……..,cant choose between these two.and most probably will be buying the bike within 1.5 months

New 180 is a good machine. 17 ps is good enough for 90- 100 kmph.
p 180 is more relaxed compared to rtr180.

But like Karizma R it is just air cooled.
So riding at this speed for too long will not be as good as doing constant 120 on p220(which have an oil cooler unit)

But p 180 will serve your daily and weekend needs easily.

If you are considering frequent and serious touring look for p220 or karizma.

I own a 220 dtsi, Pretty satisfied with it...
above mentioned 90-100 deal will be more like a kid's game for a muscular 220 any day.You will do 110+ all the time...

but p180 is very common now,and when compared to A180 i dont think p180 is a good choice(performance)

                        THANK YOU

Aliya seeing your requirement and mentality i suggest you Karizma - R .

It can very well satisfy all your requirements very well .

P220 is a good bike but you need to invest a little bit more time and care to maintain it. If you are not that type and want a problem free reliable bike go for Karizma _ R .

The comfort levels you get on Karizma - R on crusing at 90-100 will be much better than A180 (which is designed a s street fighter) .

Karizma engine is the most relaxed of all (if u keep it under 110 ).

Seeing all your needs and taste my sincere suggestion is go for
Karizma - R you will never regret.

But i read your heart says P220 . Let me tell you one thing if you are ready
in spending a part of your time in maintaining the bike and dont mind visitng PBK for the unexpected niggles which may arise all of a sudden you will be happy with P220. Whn your heart tells p220 ,tell heart that you must invest a little bit more time on that and should be ready to face the small small niggles it may have. If you are ok just go for it you will love it. But DOnt take p 220 expecting a complete trouble free bike that can be kept for years with just regular servicing .MArk my work you will regret if you take p220 with that kind of mentality . P220 may have problems but PBK guys will replace all the thing in warranty without any cost . all you have to do is go to PBk whenver you got a problem and try to adjust the small small issues it has .

ALl bikes got negatives you should accept it .

so for p 220 you may have to compromise on the relaibilty and maintance free side and for karizma you may have to sacrifice the brutal power p220 gives and other goodies like projector headlight.

But for you use i will say KArizma - R is the best.

THink well and take a good desicion.

yes i agree with the above member...i too suggest you a zma R cause 220 needs extra maintenance and its like a baby,u see,you have to check everytime if its spilling its food on the floor or not...lolz....zma has a smooth engine and will be good for tours too and mileage depends on your run in procedure...just a drawback that is its spares are costly...see you dont bump it here and there..

Basically all bikes in India with the exception of R15/Ninja250 and the big bikes are air cooled. Some like ZMR & P220 are oil cooled to overcome design flaw. Both engines are designed as air cooled. HH added oil cool do overcome heating due to full fairing. Bajaj added oil cool to over heating problem. Its the cheaper solution to overcome flaw in design and not some technical marvel. But hey! it works .

BTW its while standing still and engine running that one has to worry about engine heating, and not on the move.

Thanks both of u for ur valuable suggestions, but as i said before my main confusion is to choose b/w rtr 180and p220 bcoz i like the gruntier engine and a free reving engine.
The drawbacks i see with zma(when compared to others) it gives low mileage for sane riding, while p220 and rtr gives 40+ mileage in normal conditions, yes am a sane rider( unless a provocation)and other one is very costly spares.anyway i will consider zma
Can p220 serviced/checked with other bajaj showrooms?i heard that newer lots has lesser niggles than former ones,is their any engine related problems now?
And what about rtr 180,do u think this menance can fulfill my needs?
