On the other hand you want a relaxed driving position, and the bike is going to be driven long distance, the lazy thumper will do it without breaking into a sweat!!. Believe me, i had owned the old Bullet 350 standard for 7 years.

I would advice that he should also look at the new bullet classic 350 as it has better fit and finish compared to Thunderbird.
I am not saying that anybody cannot drive a 220 at the age of 35 & above.. but in my opinion for his age & relaxed riding of 60kms/day I think TBTS would do more Justice than a P220S with Clip ons & sporty riding position.

If the TS is happy with sporty riding position then I guess P220 would fit his bill perfectly.

If I were you - would take the TBTs... not for comfort or opinions... it's my style of riding...

Am a lazy cruising guy - who enjoys cruising at 60-80 kmph in empty roads... relaxing about... without feeling the need of the rush of air when you are accelerating from stand still... without the need for zipping about and cornering in the rides in the city... but rather go about smoothly in a lazy manner... but in time to reach... and I ain't too young either... will catch up with your age in a couple of years...

On the other hand... if you wanna feel the adrenaline rush on feeling the wind on your face when you are zipping off from stand still... cornering and feeling the thrill on riding in a sporty stance.. go for the P220S...

Apart from this a lot of other factors in terms of looks, maintanence etc etc etc will be there... But I'd rather pick a bike basis my riding style and what I enjoy the most - 'coz remember - it's gonna be a marriage... gotta fit our taste & style!!!
