^^You can come for the Mumbai-Pune meet on 31st Jan. Not sure about ZMR but the other two bikes will be there and you can take a test ride of both the machines.

i would suggest you either 220 or ZMR with FI or ZMA-R carb.....both the karizmas have same power and torque overlooking the negligible 0.6bhp increase in ZMR...but its FI its a proved tourer and nice city ride too

i have a 220dtsi completed 10k on it and yes there are minor issues and niggles in the bike compared to HH...but i only bought the bike for brute power for my tourings and its good in city riding too.it does give better mileage and is quicker and more faster than zma.however regarding the issues all i can say is "JAI warranty"

          my issues with my 220:
1)rode in rain for 20seconds and my left handle bar switch assembly backlight(white colour) has gone japut----replaced
          2)airfilter sensor gone-----replaced
3)common problem of 220 headlight getting cracks due to highbeam----still waiting for it to get fully cracked
4)did 612kms in 6 n half hours so some small rubber component has gone soft and became small and hence oil came into my airfilter----rubber replaced(lost 200ml of oil)

but am happy coz spares are cheap(dead cheap) but labour is a little bit costly and my bike still feels like a new one...getting 45+ with sane riding of 60kmph below and 35+ if ripped to 130+ speeds

aside from all these troubles i would suggest you a karizma anyday if you dont want repeated visits to service center.plz note that spares are costly(eg would be front disc pad of zma costs 2000 change and 220 front disc pad is 130),mileage will be anywhere between 30 to 40kmpl,less powerful than 220...but the plus points are its proven for long touring, its reliable, its stress free engine and i still like to look at it

r15 will be short for you and is a little headache in city roads.it also has few issues regarding rims getting cracked.but its an AWESOME track tool.its flickable and gives great mileage too.its good for short tours

Thanks for sharing your 220 experience - what you said sounds about right of pulsars and is expected. So there are no such issues with ZMAs?

            612 kms in 6.5 hrs! - really!

Also can you elaborate on "220 headlight getting cracks due to highbeam"?

ya its from bangalore to hyderabad from my cousins home to my home (not encouraging anyone here to do it plz) 612kms

i had the 1st generation of zma and frankly in abused it a lot as i learned how to ride from it and it dint give many probs, just the usual stuff...every bike has problems dude...we just have to deal with it...what matters is the output we are getting and whether its satisfying our desires

the front glass of the light set up cracks up internally due to heat of high beam...you can change it under warranty without labour charge.even at 29999 kms you show and report the cracks you will get a new one even if your odo shows 40k kms later...but when i told them that its bajaj's fault and what would happen if my warranty is over and still light cracks,i have to pay from my pocket 3000 bucks and the service engineer is like "yeah i guess so...what can we do"

3)...... I will also have a pillion ride most of the time. Budget is not more than 1.2/1.3 L.

Your preference ZMR/R15/P220. You don't sound like someone who'll be hitting the tracks.

ZMR: Seems to fit all criteria. Long wait for delivery. So ZMA may be better if you want sooner.
R15: As per comments and from what info I could gather R15 will be too small for your built and will compromise comfort. Also 86kg + pillion will take a toll on its engine.
P220: Naked version is launched or soon to be launched. So if faired version hinder your knees, naked version may be a good choice. best in term of power for both your weight and pillion. Niggles may be more than the other two though.

I went to Nasik this weekend and while waiting for my bus I decided to test ride my bikes. I went to the Yamaha showroom first and asked for the R15 test ride. They said that the test bike had an accident so not possible. The hero honda showroom looked more like a showroom with nothing to show. Not a SINGLE bike in the showroom. I asked someone if the showroom is open and she said yes sir what can I do? I said ZMR test ride. She said no we dont have any.

Then went to the TVS showroom and asked for an Apache 180 test ride. And I was on the bike in 2 minutes. She felt quick and light - good acceleration. However, I dont know how it will fare against the other 3. The breaking was fantastic, but felt a little small to me. THe white apache looks neat and with immediate delivery it was a temptation.. One of my friend was also there who almost made up his mind to buy it but refrained..

So will try to head out from office today early to get a test ride on ZMR, R15 and 220...

the RTR 180 is undoubtedly a great beast..but it lacks the BIG BIKE feel..!
you will understand what i mean when you test ride the ZMR or ZMA or P220.
and since you are tall..i'd suggest you leave out the R15.
but if the RTR 180 didnt make you feel uncomfortable..i doubt the R15 will.

and if you dont get the ZMR for a test drive..ask for the ZMA-R because as per experts both bikes feel almost similar to ride.

and well P220..has its issues..but is also a wonderful bike..!

i am sure 1 test drive of each of the above will solve all ur confusions..!
                    gud luck

Absolutely great solution to overcome the problem. If they dont allow you to ride it atleast try and sit on it to get the feel, most important is the weight. Rest all you can check on the test drive of ZMA-R.

its seems thats the cost...and what should be logical is cheap spares of bajaj should defunct in lesser time than costly spares of HH....i dont know about zma but 220 rear brake pads give around 7000 to 10000kms and front around 15000kms+.....can anyone preferably a zma owner tell how many kms does the bike's front brake pads be alive...
