    @ Abhi,

Thanks for the detailed lists. How does the Air cooled feature work? Have you seen any notable advantage from it?

    @Prabhat

    Thanks for sharing the album.

I'm just waiting for a test ride with Pulsar 220S. Maintenance will not be a problem. So, test ride of Pulsar 220S should make me stable with my decision. I might use Pulsar on my highway ride or on my office ride. And as I mentioned touring is not frequent. It might be once in a year too. For local short distance ride, I always prefer RX 100. No matter what it is, no other bike can give you the pure pleasure of riding what RX100 gives.

If you are one among those who would love to have a high speed ride in the weekend for a change & like commuting at a higher pace & dont mind spending for a service just for the thrill which it gives then go for a pulsar. U wouldnt regret.

Both bikes are good but different. Choose one that suits your personality and needs... because that bike is better for you .... after all a bike says all about its rider.

in was in your foot 6-months from now (Aug, 2009)....i was confused between p220-f & zma-r !!

once u get any of these bikes u may be wondering - why i didn't buy the other one?.....as both the bikes have characters which are so strong and unique that it cannot be fulfilled by the other !!

.....but eventually u will start liking your bike as u pass quality time with it.

I don't think pulsar would last that long

So in my opinion go for zma - r
Please refrain from badmouthing other motorcycles and brands. The higher end Pulsars come with an unlimited kilometres 5 year warranty on engine and gear box!

          zma-r

          pros
          1.very reliable bike
          2.good power(17ps@7000rpm)
          3.good touring capability
          4.excellent handling
          5.top end 125kmph
          6.smooth engine
          7.good suspensions

          cons
          1.vibes after 90kmph
2.f.e 35-40kmpl (depending upon ur riding style)
          3.very very costly spare parts.
          4.Outdated

Now comming to p220 dtsi(my current ride)

          p220

          pros
          1.amazing power throughout (21ps@8500rpm)
          2.contemperory
          3.f.e 40-42kmpl.(atleast for me)
4.Much better topspeed than any bike 144kmph(company claimed)
          5.Smoothest pulsar ever(personal feel)
          6.very good suspensions
          7.other goodies included.
          8.cheap spare parts

          cons
1.looks are similar to its siblings
2.handling is slightly inferior to zma-r when it comes to cornering else straight line handling is much better than zma(personal experience)
          3.rvm are useless.
4.I have not felt any vibes or any other issues till date.
5.average touring capability due to its a little sporty seating position, you have to couch a little bit on p220 but it gives you a good confidence at high speeds.

Now reliability is something which depends upon the owner very much.If can take a good care of p220,it will never let you down.

Now you can see there is neck to neck competition between these two monsters, one is 6 years old still very good competitior.other one p220 is a monster when comes to power delivery still a capable tourer.

I will suggest you to go for p220 but take a good care of it ,in terms of servicing and maintainance etc since I don't think it will be good to go for old machine when you have more advanced one but it is totally my openion no offenve to anyone and due to the same reason I switched over to p220 from zma-r.
Superb comparo Abhi. Useful information there. This should really help the thread starter. Thanks.

@Ken Sir: Just a small correction there, the newer P220 Dts-i no longer gets the 5 year unlimited engine warranty unlike the Fi sibling! It just has the usual 2 years warranty that came with the other bikes

Just test ride both the bikes and buy the one which you feel suits you. ZMA lovers will swear by its touring abilities and the Pulsar owners will vouch for its raw power and peppy thrust!

In the end, it is what you feel suitable!

Since you have already taken the ZMA for a spin, go take the P220-S for a test ride too.

But trust me, in most if not in all cases, it is more of the rider and less of the ride!

Am going on a test ride today. Will let you know my personal experience later.

Update: Went on a test ride. Didn't get proper chance to use the power to the maximum. Well, I am comfortable with the seating position. The pickup was awesome. The power band in 3rd and 4th gear was not too noticeable. Rear disk brake was okay. Was not too effective. The main thing was that the bike had only 15 kms on the odo. I've decided to buy Pulsar 220S. I guess this decision is finalized to 99.99%

Here are my personal opinions why I chose Pulsar 220S.
                1. Awesome pickup
                2. VFM - Karizma R costs Rs 83950 OTR while Pulsar 220S costs me Rs79950
                3. The pillion riding position and suspension was better
                4. The engine is refined from other siblings
                5. I liked the riding position

Do have some minor factors. However, thanks everyone for the feedback.
