      Hi rohit,

This is exactly the dilemma that I had before I bought my R15, but not anymore..R15 rocks man, no comparison.

The handling is a dream, the power that you get above 7000 rpm is great and the sheer pleasure of riding this bike on the highway is awesome.

If you can carry a chain spray with you on your rides, you will not have to visit the svc.

If you can elaborate on the "frequent problems" that you've read about, we would be glad to help you out.

Only one problem with the R15, I think jd666 said this and I definitely agree, the bike makes the owners pine, lust, fantasize and long for a "bigger" bike

thanks for replying...I am also concerned about the servicing cost of the bike as you own one & driven it, hope it suit to my pocket as i will b getting this bike on EMI for 2yrs. so in that period, i hope it will not give any unexpected expenditure....& have you done any long riding on it. I am 5.10" n 78 KGs.

My longest ride till date has been 320 Km (one way) no problems at all for me. I know others have done much more 1000 Km (one way) and they feel the same.

I do ~ 150 Km's on almost every weekend, 30 Km of city riding everyday and enjoy almost every bit of it.

Once you get used to the sporty riding position, you will definitely be really comfortable. During the initial period, be prepared for some shoulder and wrist ache, this will go once you get adjusted to the riding position.

5'10 and 78 Kg's will definitely not be a problem...

LOL... for what... does that guy know you in personal? these are business gimmicks man... they will do that for living...

R15 - Buddy a TD of an R15(in city) dosen't give you the true knowledge of what that bike has in her arsenal... i was like that when i TD the R15 first time... i thought WTF... is this the thing everyone is flattening about... but later i had some chance to ride it... there goes the first opinion... about the seating position which is a matter of time to get used to it... rev the bike to its limits in each gear(that's the way to ride her)

Fazer - I own an FZ16... which is a good bike with good handling, stability and descent torque which is the best bike i will say to ride in city limits... and about highways, she dosen't have much topend but enough to excite many... as far as fazer is concerned its not a VFM factor(my opinion) spending ~80k for its like BullS&*it... if you are not interested in R15 go for either FZ16 of ZMA/P220...

              !!!Cheers!!!

                R15 man!no doubt!
You might feel uncomfortable in heavy traffic esp. with pillion due to the clip-ons but once you own the bike you wont mind it!

R15 > fazer in terms of speed accleration and quality..
but since u include city+highways think bout the mileage (not trying to confuse u though )

*Edit. . . i mean neither of them dont cross 40-42 mileage max?

If mileage is not a concern go for R15 as it is better than fazer. else go for other 150 cc segment bikes.

                    R15 gives better mileage anyway.

R15 has got everything better than FAZER.. FAZER has a pathetic mileage..

GET FZ S/16 or P220 or Apache 180 instead of FAZER.. FAZER has got very good handling only and below speeds of 100 it is a good machine.. only..

just get R15 it is the best machine...

One more question...Is there any upgradation is going on in coming year in R15 as it is already 2yrs old...I mean any cosmetic or performance updation...

No there won't be any upgrade anytime soon..
You can merrily ride one home..

About your doubt between the Fazer and R15..
First things first.R15 is anyday better than the FAZER or any other bike available in the country. So if you have the money go for R15..It handles like dream and goes like missile...

But there's one more point which must be considered before you get the bike.As you have said before that you'd be using bike for touring(mostly hills).
See,the R15 below 7000RPM is just RUBBISH(no offence). There's no surge and you feel it to be like some 100cc bike. And as known,if you are riding uphill you need torque and if you are on a r15 you need to keep the throttle at boil i.e above 7000 RPM.Taller gears also create nuisance and there's hardly a moment when you shift above the 3rd..In that case,a FAZER or P220 makes sense.
Nevertheless, when going downhill it'll be some real fun with those sticky tires and brilliant chassis...Beat the corners is what this little Yamaha's is made for!
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

If you are ONLY a COMMUTER : FZ is best for you...

For everything else, go for R15...

I think they had just changed color schemes and phased out old ones
