I am getting 47-50 kmpl with 102 cc engine now, of course, with sane riding (gentle throttle, no pillion, no pushing after 45 kmph). In complete city traffic I achieved 44-46 kmpl. Tested many times (I have been using for the past 5 months).

The current 110 cc engine in Activa gives 15% more mileage (agreed to by all the magazines), so 48 kmpl in city is more than achievable.

I even got 57 kmpl at 45 kmph on highways. So, the FE depends on riding conditions, bike condition, weight of the rider with pillion, and the riding habits of the rider. Most of the young rev the scooter like a bike and end up getting cheap mileage. Give them the Access and they get 30 kmpl for sure.

If you use the scooter just for commute purpose, I do not see any reason why anybody cannot achieve good FE.

@Ravi: Thanks for the input brother.

Well i think fe of the dio would be least, only coz of this factor i think i will go for access. Activa goes out of the picture because of the waiting period thats it otherwise would have loved to buy it.

I am surprised to see Aviator not in the list, I have got one, though only completed 130 km in last 2 months, but its a great machine, same engine as activa but a wonderful built. and best things is 0 wait, just go TD and get one for yourself in a hour with accessories included.

^^Aviator was not shortlisted by the thread starter. Thought he was not interested. But, if he considers, it would be a great choice.

I personally like aviator, but i did not include it because of the price factor and also the main reason would be my wife does not like it..... ( dont know why )

Stay away from Mahindra Duro/Rodeo/Flyte etc. We (rather my wife) also got temted by smooth rride ad additonal features of Flyte, but it is as unrelaible as you'd get (faulty petrol tank design, it fails to start often, refuses to start in rains and many other irritating niggles). We bought Flyte 2 years ago and still regretting it. We would never buy another Kinetic/Mahindra product now. In fact, thanks to our baby-boy, my wife has been sparingly using it for last 10 months (guess less than 1000 KMs in last 10 months).

But now that we are again considering buyinga two wheeler for her, we have just short-listed Access & Activa (reliability - 2 infamily and no rea issues there). My wife took test ride of both and we're boking Activa. Somehow access dealer here is very...shabby to put it mildly. And worse still, the test-ride vehicle they had was really noisy & bad - so we just decided against it. Lack of wide service network also is major factor for deciding against it. We would have bought Aviator - but too tall for my wife.

Decide whichever your wife finds suitable, but please stay away from Mahindra two-weelers. Trust me (and Ravi may remember this, from my older conversations here and his own experiences with Kinetci 2-wheelers), there are things that test ride can't reveal to you. Longe term ownership experience is the key in making these decisions. We have now realized that we can perhaps live without coupel of features, but not without reliability. I really wish Honda provided telescopic shoock-ups for Activa, but we can live without it (and certainly without front fueling or lamp in the boot) but not without reliability. It was annoying when my wife had to return from her hospital i a rikshaw and her flying lying there for couple of days waiting for Dr. Knetic that refused to shwo up later. When you can't trust your ride, life is miserable!

Manish, how would I forget that? It was really a horrenderous experience for you and your wife (and I had the same experience with Kinetic Blaze). But on the contrary my wife's Kinetic Flyte is running very fine without any issues, except that it is giving only 35 kmpl. Recenly, I did DIY and experimented on the tuning part and now the FE increased to 38-40 kmpl. No cold start problems at all. Though my Flyte is running fine, I will be cautious and think twice to suggest a bike from Kinetic/Mahindra. I fully agree with you regarding sacrificing a fearture or two for reliability.

                    Ravi.

                      ANDY,

I suggest you go for Activa. I have 3 in my family. 2 driven by elders and 1 by my cousin. Though he has screwed it big time the other two are still very smooth running and FE is near to 45. Depends if you can wait for some time. Even i adviced the same to my office colleague and he has paid advance and is waiting for the delivery.

guys all of you are stating the wait period for Dio as 45+ days , but few months back just went to the showroom with cash in pocket and walked out (3 hours later) with a new dio for my wife , AFAIK there is a good amount of wait period for all other Honda bikes execpt Dio .

if you are going for the dio do check out the rear leg rest position , i found it very horrible but still went for it as it would be riden with only the rider on board most of the time .

Thank you so much everyone for your kind inputs. I would be booking either Activa or Access depending which one suits the best .

@Moderators: This thread has served its purpose in a great way so you can close this thread.

                            Many thanks again.
