  • My first bike:confused

hey guys am an engineering student in bangalore..6ft n 58kgs...
i was looking for a bike from past few months...i need to commute 30+30 to my college daily...most of my riding will be on outer ring roads[kinda highway] in bangalore..
i was glued to gs150r thread from beginning n liked it....but liked the new p180ug4 equally for its new looks... even booked p180 in feb..
underwent a surgery a week back and am not supposed to ride for 2-3 months..so delayed delivery because i dont want my bike new bike to be parked in house... i never got a test ride of p180 in any showrooms,so my heart says to check out other bikes too....
Now am confused whether to stick with my booking[if yes, will it be valid after 2 months], else my other 2 choices,
    p150ug4.5 or
    gs150r....???????

    my requirements-decent mileage=50kmpl
    low maintenance...no tension bike.
    touring[200kms]
    vibe free engine...
    easy handling in traffic.
i also want to know life of these bikes?i heard dtsi engines have less life compared to other bikes..

P180 UGIV is a very good bike mind you.. but you cannot expect 50kmpl from that.

In my opinion you should look at the GS150R or Honda Uni both will fit your budget perfectly & can serve you very well for your purpose.

check out the p135 also. Its performance is really comparable to a 150(r15 barred!)

No doubt that p135 has a great engine.. but i never liked the rear part...
i prefer not to go below 150cc...

the unicorn will set u perfectly and there are some new colours coming as well.. the gs 150r is a very good bike with all things missin from the uni..(i had a uni for 5 years, and there was not even a single day that i felt that a 6th gear would be a very good idea along with some power and a bit of tech (digi speedo),etc ).. but see in the gs 150r as some of them r facin some issues with their engines.. confirm with the followin thread's and then finalize..
but one thing i'm sure of,u cannot get a more relayable bike than the unicorn in that segment.. and as for the life of the engine of the unicorn,i had a gen 1 with self start, sold my bike when it was 63k kms..things done
@45k opened the head, removed all carbon, put new valves and piston rings.. and that's it,no clutch plates change,nothing.. changed the spark plugs and break pad's ocassionally.. used synth's most of the time..and it was ridden by my bro till 18k and he never crossed 70kmph,and since then i had been trashing the bike with very very agressive driving..

the uni and GS fit the bill perfectly...both of em are vibe free, returns good fuel economy...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

try the apache RTR 160 refresh, its a good city + highway bike 71K on road for the rear Disc brake version, 68 for the normal one...this bike will satisfy all your needs.vibes are there but only at a certain speed and those vibes are not that harsh!

i test drove both apache rtr 160 and 180..found no difference between the two, except the size.... i was not comfortable with the ridding posture as am not used t such racing postures...it was hard to find neutral and bike looked small for my height[6ft]...else i wud have opted for A180... in my opinion apache is not for taller guys...

I too had the same confusion with lots of bikes in my mind and picking up the best among it. And i have also created a thread like this in the "What Bike" Section.

After going through the posts in my thread i came to know that GS150R is the bike which had been recommended by many people here to me for buying. For more info check out my thread.

Having tough time selecting a bike and looking for experts’ opinion? Then this is the place for you...

                        Hope your problem solves here.

So your primary requirement would be a strain free ride. Look no further than the Honda unicorn, Gs 150 and fz. And for riding freely in heavy traffic, the bike which is tailormade would be the fz.

Being a fz 16 owner, I would wholly recommend the fz for a bike which offers the best comfort, is the best bike for busy city, and the safest 150cc bike. The only negative is the small rear seat and mileage of 45.

The unicorn and gs 150 are 146kg in weight but both offer 50-55 in mileage and the unicorn offers the most refined engine in its segment.
So if budget is a matter, go for the unicorn or gs or then fz.

Based on ur requirements , the above 3 are fit for touring and city rides. But the Honda and yamaha engines do last a lifetime.

                          Reduce 1 km/hr speed, add 1second 2 ur life.

Upgraded 2010 CB unicorn is another disappointment from honda..just the prefix CB with a new viscous filter..i badly miss digital console, led tail lights in uni!!! its been around for so many years without any major upgrades except for graphics and colors....

anyone laid there hands on 2010 p150 ug4.5???? how is the refinement?
any idea about sports version of unicorn?
