hi folks... too cut the long story short
we are looking for a good supplement bike.. one that can take you for small trips,
swim through traffic like a fish is low on reliability issues has good a.s.s support and all of this without sky high fuel bills
Dad ruled out a higher capacity bikes as he finds them too dangerous for my kiddo brother whos only 17 and is not too mature with his riding culture ... money was not much of an issue so i suggested jive and cb twister to dad to which he readily agreed as that'll prevent him from being a throttle jockey
vis vis apache and the pulsar family
as it is family doesnt support bikes for lack of safety much to my chagrin but something is better than nothing as im not inclined on proving biking logic to them.
The mileage issue rose as my 6 years honda dio has become a petrol leech and its performance is nothing to boast of considering how it behaves like a grand ma now when it comes to pick up
so we are looking for a good vfm product that gives a hassle free ride without the need of filling up every now and then.. i ve gotten sick of dio's 6 litre capacity and constant trips to the gas station

im listing the pros of both the products and i request my fellow members here to make this a dilemma free decision with their pointers

    cb twister
    1. out of the box cbf1000 inspired looks
    2. extremely reliable tried nd trusted honda 110 mill which even the activa has been using

    tvs jive
    • novelty value of this out of the box product
    • traffic snarls no more a pain clutch free smiles
    • anti knocking engine no stalling can start with any gear slotted
    • decent looks though sedate when compared with the twister
    • price sounds quite a bang for buck

thats all i could think off impromptu .. we are planning to buy one of these bikes asap so i would be really happy if the knowledge pool on xbhp makes this a breeze citing critical cons and pointers

Well as someone who has been riding the jive for a fair bit, I will put my money on it for the practical use of the bike :P
It has a nice smooth engine, nice gear shift and is a valid upgrade from a gearless scoot! It cuts through the traffic at ease, is very comfortable, is easy to learn, handles pretty well, returns an awesome fuel economy!
Has loads of torque (purely in its class) it could pull a start in all the gears!

I havent ridden the CB a lot, but it looks HOT! (minus the tiny cylinder)
It beats the jive in looks (Jive does look nice too, but the CB is super HOT!)
Its nice, peppy and a looker there is where it ends!

I must have confused you by now!

My money on Jive for two reasons
      - Practical upgrade from a gearless bike
      - Better build quality purely in terms of having access to spares and all in case of a spill considering its a first time bike
      - Heck no clutch breeze so saves time to learn!

hey satyen thank you for a prompt reply ...scales are tilted towards jive with its no nonsense profile...i just wanted to confirm how much fuel economy jive has been offering.. with a puny engine we would want the bike to be really frugal as compared to my dio which returns a paltry 30-35 kmpl

p.s which colour do u suggest if we plan on jiving ?? i fancy blue havent checked the colours out in person yet

Well for a college going boy a CB Twister would be a better bike especially as it looks so different from the rest of the bikes in the segment.

As for Jive, it should be good but looks staid and i am quite skeptical on the economy of the bike especially vis-a-vis the Twister

          @Satyen
What mileage are you getting from the clutchless wonder?

                Go with CB.
fits all your requirements and as you s0aid you need it for a teenager it has the looks which all students love.
and for the reliability issue there is a badge on it which states "HONDA"
                gO for CB TWISTER!!!!

                  Am riding a red+black bike!
Dont freak out when I say that last evening I rode the jive for like 53 KMs with one litre of fuel, and then I went to fill fuel and ended up filling some 14.34 Litres of fuel.
Thats almost like 50+ KMs in like half litre of fuel!

Will be doing the mileage check from tomo onwards

Refer my post above, I am not sure... if there was more than 100 odd ml of fuel already in the bike!! Whats the company proclaimed mileage btw?

Don't know about the ARAI mileage but i read somewhere that the company claims 55-60kmpl in typical city conditions.

Be Gentle on the throttle and it can deliever 60-70i think.
55-60 is the average i get from my RTR FI when drivven below 4000RPM.
and it's almost 50CC and 7 PS more.

And though i haven't ridden it, do you think it'll never knock cuz of that 'anti knock' thing?
                      I doubt this.

55 should be a easy bet on that bike

EDIT: Renny beat me to it!
I mean seriously it would have given me more like 70+ KMPL easily!

One more thing i wanted to ask:

The JIVE has a cut, copy, paste gearbox from HERO HONDA STREET, Right?

^^ nope. the crank design on the HH Street and on the Jive are very very different. For a user, yes, it is similar.

                            Does the Activa knock?
Jive employs a Centrifugal clutch (in addition to a regular one) like in the auto gear scoots that.
