  • Need a performance oriented bike(stylish too :P)

    Hello everyone!!!!!
For long i have been an invisible active member of xbhp.com and really gained much needed knowledge about bikes but still i want it to be my best bet and seek guidance from expert guru's here.

Sole criterion of choice will be performance, handling and styling(all equally important). According to my knowledge I have shortlisted YAMAHA R15, HERO HONDA KARIZMA ZMR and TVS APACHE RTR180. Price and FE are not of much concern and bike will mainly be used for city riding. I think handling is as important as performance as latter can only be then fully exploited.
Also I wish to ask if ther's any reality in launch of YAMAHA 125, Yamaha 250 cc and TVS 2xx cc bike in India as I would love to own the latest bike in town(eyecatchy ).

    Thanks

Go for the P220. The best.

      Hope everyone read that line.

Now, forget about the expected launches you have listed except for the TVS thingy but knowing the kind of delays TVS does with their launches, you can forget that too.

For city, good pickup & handling, RTR 180 - for all the good reasons, including the ones you've mentioned. For your requirement, it is my choice over the R15 or the ZMR.

i think over all p220 would give u everything......performace , value for money , good service backup

but if ur going to choose from your list

my choice will be rtr180 for the above mentioned reasons

r15 is a awesome bike believe me just that the cost doesnt justify the baby r1

                pulsar220:
just for raw power and the projectors

                R15:
                superbike feel
                handling
a bike which can maintain speeds above 100 kmph all day without any complaints
                sporty seating position

                Apache180:
                looks (subjective )
                flickability and handling
with lowend power its awesome for city traffic..
                fun to ride character

                Zmr:
if your are a full time tourer....

my choice for you would be r15....

                  Thanks for comments

I request members to read lines below carefully, please

I think i need to elaborate more about myself - 5'7 feet tall, 69 kg , I used to(and still) ride Activa and as turning 18 in few days i'll be getting MY OWN BIKE!!!!

Apart from perfomence and handling, styling is also a big deciding factor and to be very frank I want a bike that also makes me feel exclusive and look cool, earn me status(in comparisionamong bikes) , top notch parts/components quality, least possible visits to mechanic, i love to revv(redlining), should be ease to cut across traffic , nd girls should love it (ask your girlfriend(s) plz)

I have no problem on spending till 1.10 lakhs and don't care about "milage kitna hai".

I'am little bit inclined towards R15 and always had a strong desire for it. Some direct lines from reviews: "On engine alone this is the bike to be on",
"after you ride all the bikes back to back, it's the R15 you want to ride again and again and yet again" are some of comments that really impressed me. Performance and handling was never questionable. Only grouse that i have with the bike are : dissapointing exhaust sound and thin tyres(some even don't like bike visually coz of it), that's it.

I have excluded p220 for the following reasons( acc. to my knowledge)
:- handling not good, inclined towards comfort (my touring would be negligible and i want best flickablity to cut across traffic)
*I even felt this as i have ridden p200 the most.
:-Components and parts are not of good quality
                  :-pulsars waayy tooo common

I have not much info. abt ZMR and acc. to reviews read I would best describe it neutal on most of the factors.

Also please tell in which color you would like the bike
Till now mixed reactions, though R15 on lead...

So what are the suggestions now
                  sorry for soo long post

Well, you have pretty much summed up all your requirements/options. Keeping those in mind, i think R15 is the bike you should go for.I am not a big fan of it's power delivery or looks but handling/braking is what blows me away everytime i ride it.

Or else if you want to save 30-35k then head to a nearest TVS showroom and book yourself the RTR 180. It's the next best bike after R15 in terms of flickability/cornering ability. And it's almost as fast up till 100-110km/hr.

I really dont think you need to look beyond the technical marvel from Yamaha.....
                      2002 - Pulsar 150 Classic (Still owned)
                      2005 - Pulsar 150 Dtsi (Still owned)
                      2006 - Eterno (sold)

                        Point completely agreed.

My opinion would be exactly like Chicane.
