hey, thanks a lot guys , i have test driven all the three bikes ,
I guess the priority goes like
1.gladiator (A good bike ,considering im not earning n im a student)
2.Cbz (pure performance with similar mileage and cheaper than gs)
3.GS (though good and best for commuting, dont feel like spending 70k)

Can someone clarify on the mileage of gladiator?
The yamaha showroom executives told me that it gives 50-55 kmpl but then the above 150 cc bikes also gives the same. so i am confused a little here.
and also what is the difference between RS and SS of gladiator?? in automaxbout i found SS having more likes n less hates than RS. . . . is it just the looks or anything else
Does SS glad have any considerable flaw? once again thanks a lot everyone

1 more doubt, one of my friend who has pulsar 180 kept telling me like that bike's tyre is pretty broad just next fz etc and it helps in keeping the balance on road. . . but when i saw gladiator the tyres are very thin , so it safe to ride a gladiator on a highway to college?

*forgot to add this. My elder bro had pulsar 150 (4-5 years back which i never got to drive even once as i was in 10th std that time ) and eventually he sold it when he had to move out of city for work, but i had his bajaj saffire (which my bro gave it to me when he bought pulsar) with me for 2 years before it got too old . (i don't know if this necessary but just thought i should type it )

Difference between Gladi RS & SS is just the colour. RS comes in Yamaha Racing Blue. Other colours are SS.

Gladiator is more powerful for a 125 cc bike and makes its power at higher RPMs compared to other 125 cc's. So, if you keep revving the bike because it is going, you will get lower mileage. Use it smooth & gentle it gives better mileage. The problem is it gives a big bike feel and almost goes like one - many people revv it and complain a drop in mileage.

Thanks @ hyd. But what about the Vibrations in the bike? is there any noticeable vibes? and the tyres are safe enough though its too thin when seen from behind?

actually the gladiator is the most vibration free bike till date. It doesnt hav any vibrations at any speeds.

Since u were saying tat you will keep a bike only for three years (after 3 years bajaj bikes begin to deteriorate) give a try to the p135 bcoz:-

          1. It will fit in ur parent's pocket.(price of a 125cc)
          2. It will give u the performance & speed of a 150cc bike & mileage of 125cc bike.

Anyways the gladiator is also the best bike in its segment.(I also own a gladiator)
there is no difference in the RS & SS except the colour part.
NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

            Hi shrikky,

As you can see everyone is voting to go for the Gladi. It's def great bike. It has proved to be a fuel efficient, sporty and reliable bike. As hydbiker says many people rev it always and complain about the mileage drop. In your case since your college is 36 kms on the highway, you will have to cruise and NOT CHASE all the way. Maintain your speed between 40-60 always for mileage. The best about gladi is that you can also rip it when you want to. It looks like a 150cc bike and also the way it handles is mindblowing. The chassi complements the engine very well.

The CBZ and GS are good bikes in their own ways but I don't prefer suggesting them as they are a bit costly.

Honda Stunner is definitely STUNNING on looks. Again it is way too costly for a 125cc bike. I would suggest you considering the Unicorn which is great bike from Honda's stable. Upto my knowledge it gives 50+ mileage. The Uni has also proved to be a good all rounder. I am not sure about the price.

Another bike worth considering is the Hero Honda Hunk. Its got the same engine from CBZ but gives better mileage and is marginally slower in terms of perfomance.

Overall looking at your requirements I would suggest you to go ahead with the Gladiator. But do consider the other bikes before choosing. Its always your choice.

Just Keep in mind if you need mileage go for below 150 cc variants especially try between 100 to 125 cc range

Bikes from Hero honda or Honda or Suzuki Lasts long and trouble free
IMO, Suzuki has not been in India for long enough to earn that reputation!

I would say, go for P135 or else CBZ-X in 150cc category.

Suzuki Fiero is the 2nd 150cc bike to be relased in india after HH CBZ & those bike still runs fine clocking more than a lakh kms in some cases.

^^ Fiero is one very good bike of its time. But I meant Suzuki independently as a 2 wheeler company, not in collaboration with TVS.

^^^ That's okay dear... but I have got some surprising views from a couple of sensible mechanics that the Suzuki Zeus engines that have run 50 to 60K KMs work much better than Uni's & Shines that did similar mileage. Not just that, it seems the exhausts in the Honda's are more prone to rusting and giving away. This can at least can hint that the Suzuki's are no less.

of course, it might not be easy to get to speak to mechanics who have seen some Suzuki's owning to the low numbers on roads.

what bike ur going to order? even me exchanged one CBZ extreme for test drive, its smooth and good pickup but feel vibration in handle. Its brand new one,the owner told me same think like what others told u about Yamaha gladiator, rev it hard and complaining mileage is not wise thing? I am a old CBZ owner(2000-2003) ,even the engine got update from then, i got 48kmpl in city driving, but once i gave the bike to local mechanic(authorised hh service) ,the mileage dropped to 40plus only ,never went to same mileage i had before ...so sell it on 30000 on odo bcos that time no good mech in my city for HH CBZ(the bike not sold here that time) so i buy it in kumbakonam 60km from here....I hope in chennai u have lot of options, multiple dealer etc...
