First of all stop believing those orkut videos. Especially the orkut link you have given. Completely baseless. He's doing 50kmph in first cog and 80 kmph in 2nd cog. Is that the proof you are giving for the top end of pulsars? sick!

I know the top end of pulsars is the best when compared to other bikes of same capacities, but there must be a limit to exaggeration.
I am not exaggerating first of all ... this is the video which was posted in P220dtsi ownership thread by an xbnhp member whose xbhp id is Manohar manu and FYI this is not an orkut video , it is his video .
and ALMOST every indian bike has speedo error ....
i hope he should reply here now.

If you agree that speedo error is present, then how can you claim that the guy touched 153kmph.

With a 53Kg rider (me). Pulsar 220 DTS-i hit a top-end of 155km/hr on the speedo... So its possible (atleast on speedo) .

It is a well known fact that the speedometers of pulsars have a good margin of error as said by some of the well experienced senior members here.

Touching 145Kmph on dyno or on the speedo doesn't mean that it is the REAL top end.

Various automotive magazines have tested and most of them have achieved a top speed of around mid 130's.

Do correct me if I'm wrong.

That video is mine. Its real not fake.Nothing wrong in My bike's speedometer. We do know that speedo's have error.
On dyno P220 dtsi can do more than 150 and i've done it . i've pic and video to prove it.
On road, it does 150+ on speedo easily. I've done it on my bike and other 220's also.
We have tested with GPS also,
when speedo was showing 151, GPS showed 139.5kmph.
so, at 153kmph or 155kmph it will be over 140+ true speed.
regarding bike doing 50kmph in 1st gear, yes it is capable of it.
Top speeds on each gear which i've done and remember:
          1st-52kmph
          2nd-80kmph
          3rd-107kmph
          4th-137kmph
          5th-153kmph

What magazines tested are on new bikes which had not done run-in.
Even i could not cross 134 when my bike had done 2k kms.
Once it crossed 4k and 3 services, it completely opened up and does more than what magazines claim.
So, true speed of P220 is nearly 140 and on speedo, it will be 153+

Yes, I agree because mid 130's as I said or nearly 140 as you claim sound almost the same.

The top speeds of each gear you have mentioned, may be you got it after revving the engine to it's extreme limit, that too with speedo errors (as you've honestly mentioned). But the acceleration of the bike from 0 to 60 or 80 in your video is simply unrealistic for a stock pulsar220. It is what I feel. It looks like you've done some performance mods. Anyone who sees the video will notice this. Or maybe, a couple of secs of the video are missed/corrupted, which give the feeling of this acceleration.

                        Hi

                        Hey bro

Well firstly R15 doesn't seem an option for you. It is great bike in its own way. It is for race track perfomance and cornering and sporty seating and looks blah blah.....etc. But not meant to be tourer.

Pull out fazer out of the equation. It is only FZ with a r15 like headlight. Costly at that too. It is great city bike. You can flick and corner like hell. But no. Not for touring. We all know FZ loses its breat after 80kmph(No hard feelings FZ guys). Mileage is also not so good.

I have always loved the P220 for its perfomance. The bike looks fully loaded with digi console, sporty seating, bulky tires, raw power(21bhp), awesome headlight.....At night no other bike gives better lighting than the P220. Thanks to its projector lights. And yes it has good amount of vibrations at higher speeds. Cornering is an art to be learnt after you buy the bike. Initially u might be scared. And as someone already said parts aren't so costly. The bike can cruise comfortably even at 80kmph. Mileage....well if u are not a ripper it'll give you 40+. So you can keep P220 in your mind.

Though I love the P220 my vote for you would be the Karizma. It is one hell of a bike. I have always felt that it is an all rounder. Good power(17), good for city and highway driving, good mileage(45), nice looks(depends on ur taste) and a hassle free engine. Very smooth even at high speeds. Most importantly I suggest u this bike for its comfortable seating position. Ask ZMA owners. They'll tell you abt it. U can ride it all day long. Thus a good engine and good seatind posture makes it a good buy for you.

But still take a test drive and decide between the P220 and Karizma. The choice is always yours. Do check about the service capability of the dealer in ur city with the locals.

                        Choose wisely......

harish i dont know why i never liked karizma...though i knw it is very gud bike..m also inclining towards 220 due to the power it deliver at every speed i drove FZ around 80 its egine give up... n of 220 i tested it on dyno never flt any burden on engine cruising easily at the speed 100 - 110...but as u already mentioned i luv corners, thats what m afraid of on this bike....

cornering is an art that you will learn gradually and if you are a practical person then i dont think so you will be cornering all the time during your ride.

if you love cornering and want to do it most often with ease .... then go and pick R15 eyes closed. its a GREAT handler.

                              Hi all..just wanted a piece of advice...i am getting a used R15(2008 model) @75k
I had a test drive, the chain was loose for which the owner said he will get it repaired..

Also he had replaced the rear tire 100/80 with 100/90 - will it affect performance ?

I wanted to ask whether it is a good deal or not?
What else should i look out for in the bike to test it throughly before buying?
                              Also i m 6"feet and well built...will R15 suit me?

Yamaha R15 or Pulsar 220 for daily drive to office

                                HI guys,

I am confused with which bike to own ?

                                I have only 2 options i.e P220 or R15.

I am going to cover 60km daily way to my office (120km bothside).

                                mileage is no issue.

i have gone through several threads for R15 and P220 but still confused.

i want to invest once for next 4-5 yrs.

As R15 is FI and with 6 gears a good technology same side P220 is a wild beast.

Both bike fights for 135+ km/hr speed.

i have heard that R15 shows it's power above 6k rpm, is this true?

i will going through the highways 60 km---40km of NH and remaining 20km city ride.

please suggest me which one to buy, because i need safety and comfortability too. i mean tyre, grips, performance , maintenence, future of the bike, and latest technology.

                                Thanks in advance.
