  • FZ vs Fazer vs Dazzler or Bullet! Budget till 80K

    Hi All,

I am too confused to choose a new bike. I am 6"feet tall and well built. So I am looking for a bike which will suit my personality.

I zeroed on some bikes but...
    Pulsar180 - too common
FZ - need more input from you all
Fazer - will it be a right investment (80k for a 14bhp,150cc bike?)
CB Dazzler - took a test ride, very refined engine but the bike felt vey slim and light

I can stretch my budget till 80k.

I am even thinking of buying a used bullet (as new one won't come in my budget) but couln't find any pointers for getting one. So any fellow x-bhpian who are willing to sell their bullet do send me a mail.

Please give your valuable suggestions and help me out. Suggestion for any other bikes are most welcome.

you should also specify primary usage of the bike, and what ball park performance are you expecting or want from the machine. you can throw the P220 and Avenger also into the fray, the latter if you want a good cruiser which is affordable also.

      - KTM Duke 200
      - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

Fazer = FZ + semi fairing(i.e. some more weight)
Not sure what you gain over FZ if you don't want to do a lot of highway.

Dazzler is as heavy as FZ -- so it is not much light. Though a light bike can be handy in city traffic.

For FZ vs Dazzler -- there is another thread on this forum.

Bullet is totally different bike, zero in your requirements rather than bikes .

@jd666 - well my usage is mostly restricted to city travelling(Pune)....i thought of avenger but is it good for city travelling? How is it handling in city conditions ? (have these doubts as it is a cruiser)

@chauhan_saurabh - my only requirement is a bike with good road presence and suiting my built personality

P220 F for you. you can look for P220 S also if you cant stretch more than 80k.
220F is half-Faired, with 55W headlamps and low beam projector headlamp. Better aerodynamics, better tourer.

220S basically is a 220F with the fairing of a P180, i.e. 35W headlamps & no projector. On the plus side, lesser weight due to smaller fairing. Better city bike.

            P.S - Ex showroom price for P220 F in pune is Rs.79650.

hi, i've been using the avenger for the last 4 yrs with a good amount of city riding and my advice would be against it for city riding. the bike's too heavy and the front tyre just seems glued to the ground for reasons unknown(maybe cause it's made that way) causing your shoulders to ache within 15-20kms. as regards it's highway stability, it's simply gr8, you can do turns at 80 that u never thought of doin on 60. Though the bike is an eye catcher, it's weight alongwith bajaj's excellent service backup and international standard spares makes it an absolute no-no package

if you're lookin for a bike with good road presence i would advise a karizma-r (on road price of 82k in mum), provided mileage is not an issue(35-40kmpl max) and u can spend extra time in the service centre(it's maintainence is kinda on the heavy side)

if you're okay with a 150cc then i would suggest a hunk as it'll suit your stature and it's easier to maintain(i for one have been in your situation for quite a while and i have finally narrowed down on hunk). it's handling in city traffic is good and the torque band being on the lower side helps to get off the mark ahead of the traffic.

About your R15 query, i won't be able to comment much cause i don't know any ppl who own it, but as far as my opinion goes buying a new bike low on performance is better than buying a used one with a higher one. it spares you the time and the hassle, so that u can enjoy ridin without being irritated by small issues.

                  Ride safe

P.S- fazer should not even be on your list unless you're a tourer of sorts, cause it's simply an fz with an aerodynamically designed semi-fairing to prevent windblast troubles. that only makes matters worse for city riding as it makes handling difficult

                  The purpose of biking -
100cc- to get from point A to point B
                  125cc- to get there fast
150cc- to have some fun while getting there
200+cc- to start from point A and forget when point B passed by

It's not the ride but the rider that matters!

you wrote in some other thread that its a 2008 model....and now you are quoting 1year used
how much it has clocked on odo ?

                      6"feet + well built + investing 75K --> for a USED bike ... not that tempting to me ...
my advice - buy a NEW bike brother ....

Well it is 2008 model purchased on May'09
So it is 1 year old...still one year warranty is there.

I have the following options now:
                        New P220 F - 81k
                        New Karizma R - 83k
                        New FZ - 73k
                        New P180 - 71k
                        Used R15 - 75k

Though as suggested by 'smoker n doper' spending 75k on a used bike is really not very tempting but when i saw the bike(R15), i was completely blown out by its look...no other bike can match the beauty of R15

75k on a used bike no way...
If you are looking for city-highway commute then I'll suggest you to go for Karizma R or Pulsar 220F
Pulsar 220F will cost you cheap spears and whole India workshop every time you come out of the workshop your bike bike will be new...
Karizma R very nice bike stress free engine but drawback is its spears.. + well build and look good too,but have you seen any changes in zma from 2003..
                            my answer NO..

city bike strictly Dazzler nothing else all ways go for new tech that I think...
