There is only bike in Indian market that actually can compete ZMR is P 220 (if you do not consider Ninja 250)

Buying first bike, but which one?

If you are buying it for your requirement, the Apache 180 is enough. If it is peer pressure you are worried about, go with R15... nothing else will make you feel superior to the ZMR. P220 is a highway craver.. but hell.. I commute on my P220, and those 20 minutes(of my commute time) are sometimes the most fun part of my day.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I can take care of any bike, look after it quite well. But I'm considering the faired ones. I've finally made up my mind. It should be either R15 or P220.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostIf you are buying it for your requirement, the Apache 180 is enough. R15 is quite old now and I'm thinking about the pillion seating.
P220, some say its too delicate, some say its got hell lot of problems, some say fairing vibrations, and all such stuff....
What do you feel of the P220?
My friend has an R15. He said the horn sounds low when the headlights are on. Has anyone experienced any such kind of problem?Take good care of your ride.

Hey buddyOriginally posted by zhk View PostThanks for your opinion.
My budget is within 1.10k. I don't really want to compromise on anything coz its my first bike.
I don't know why, but just can't stop thinking of P220. My cousin's got a ZMR, so I don't feel like riding RTR 180 beside him. Something like the R15 or the P220, which can give him some serious competition.
And BTW, is the KB100 on the profile pic yours? My dad had it too. It was such a wonderful bike and what pick-up? I rode it only for 2 years though. Its a good bike.
,
NO! It isn't worthless as some people say. If it were so do you think it would be selling like this? Look how many members in xbhp own P220. If you feel P220 is the one then go for it straightaway. Surely R15 will give superior feeling. But if perfomance is the main criteria then P220 stands next to nothing(excluding the Ninja). The bike has some small quality niggles with the switch quality. But you'll love the projector headlight, bulky tires and best of all.....21 horses pulling you. The bike is very stable. No crosswind can affect its stability. I think you have already fallen in love with the P220(as I have also
)! So go for it!
And yes that KB100 is mine
. My uncle gave it to me 2yrs back. Perfomance wise I have won drags with 125cc bikes many times. Not sure if it can beat the 150cc bikes. If you want to know more feel free to send me a private message. We are not allowed discuss this here
.
Pls update what choice you have made.Tour De Thekkady

150cc doing 100+ is great!
100cc doing 100+ is awesome!!
150cc cornering like hell is great!

@ZHK, P220 is a good machine if you are speaking performance and if you are not the kind who doesn't want just any niggles about the bike. If your heart is on it, just go for it.
BTW, for the performance you have outlined, the RTR 180 is good enough to show its tail to the ZMR always and to give a tough fight to the P220 or the R15.

Its so bugging when people just write things on what they have heard till date.
@ZHK, i am a proud owner of the PULSAR 220, and all who go on about the faring vibrating at high speeds are just saying it because, they have heard it. Dude trust me, i have taken my bike at 7k rpm on the 5th gear thats a good 92 kmph, and trust me there are no vibrations. Also, the 220 is very flickable, once you get used to the bike, it seems like any other bike on the streets. I just weigh 57 kgs, and i have no difficulties at all. So all the best, and take the best decision.
when the strech is empty, my bike tells me to wring its throttle and give my commands!

Thanks a lot everyone. I went through all your posts and also went through the ownership threads of P220 and R15. I felt that the R15 is a safe bet and even if it 27k more than P220, at least I'll have the peace of mind that there might not be any major problems in future.
And moreover there is no Probiking centre here in Mysore, but there are 3 outlets of Yamaha. And after market servicing of R15 is better than the P220 I guess (after going through the ownership experiences).
So, at the moment I would say, R15:P220=75:25
.
Also heard about a new P220 owner whose discs weren't biting that well
. This scared me too
.
Anyways, please give me more advice so that I can zero-in on my dream bike
.
Thanks again....
Take good care of your ride.
