ZMA- FI bikes are not for India and especially for touring.
To add to it Hero Honda has brought nothing substantial by putting in the FI so why to waste 20000 rs.If you save that and invest in FD that means your whole maintenance cost of ZMA will be free for life.So you ride a maintenance free bike

If you have that budget, yes you can go for ZMR. Worth that extra penny !

If you are going to drive in a city more than highways, and going to end up in jams, please don't go for ZMR, this is not meant for that type of riding. Even though it's liquid cooled, your cooler is not that efficient in jams !

If you are going to drive fast and have tendencies of crashing, hitting, scratching, hurting... please don't buy ZMR, spares of ZMR are rarest species at HH dealers.

I do own a ZMR ... but i avoid what's mentioned above ... so look at your requirement ... and then drill hole of required dia.

Go through ZMR thread ( First Impression ), you will come to know, what are it's pros & cons ! or even check the Ownership thread.

In what aspects will the ZMR be pricey to maintain compared to ZMA.
Due to FI and rear disc ??
i dont think the zmr would be a good choice for touring as the clip on handle bar gives a sporty seating position due to which you might have a backache on long drives.

There is not much difference in both bikes. The zmr has got just a 0.6 bhp more power (i dont think this would make a much difference) & a bit more fuel efficiency(due to fi). But i dont think that the extra 20k would be worth spending. If i was in your place then i would have taken the zma-r & would have used the extra 20k saved in the fuel expenses. The amr being a more complicated & technically advanced bike would surely require more maintenence & moreover if you have any problem with zmr it cannot be fixed by any local mechanic while the zma-r can be fixed by almost any road side mechanic.

              How about a Bullet???

I think for that money you can get an Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark. If you want something comfortable for touring then this is really a good option over ZMA or ZMR. The new UC engine is one to go for, LOVE THE THUMP

It not, used the save money to buy good riding gear. You know Alpinestars and AGV sort.
None of the bikes will disappoint you.
I have the riding gears from Cramster. I think they are decent enough.

and if you will take my advice I will tell to go for ZMR... its a stunner and you will be amazed by the looks you get while riding...

                Performance wise both are equal
                Thanks buddy.

I prefer cruising. Not racing with anyone like there is no tomorrow.
And I have read the thread for initial few pages. That thread has gone up to 260+ pages !!

I don' think ZMR gives very sporty position as in other clip-ons

I dont think ZMR is worth extra 20k and just for Fi,split handle bar and full fairing..Then why not R15,the best two wheeler made in India!

The ZMR is a very good bike in itself with a host of features coupled with stunning looks. But .... is it really worth spending 20K more than the original KARIZMA-R? In my opinion "NO" stick with what you have booked 'The ZMA-R' it is a legend atleast in India.

                      P.S.- U are not considering the P220?

                        @TC

i suggest ZMA-R coz maintenance would be on higher side for zmr. hh svc are even so not service splendor upto mark so just forget about zmr.
AFAIK Its based on Honda PGMFI as in Honda cars. And Honda cars are damn reliable. Some of the Citys i have come across are good examples of it.

My friend who got One of delhi's first white ZMRs has been raping the daylight out of that poor bike since day 1. And the engine is still in one peace.

I would say Reliability is purely upon one's luck + How they keep the bike. There are people who got ceased FZ and Karizma engines within a week and people who are riding Chinese 100cc bike for quite some time without any problem.

I would say "Kismat ho toh chale chaand tak, nahin toh shaam tak " .
