  • Mohammad Umar from New Delhi

    Hello everyone.

I am Mohammad Umar from New Delhi. Currently in my 3rd year of Mechanical engineering ,IP University, Delhi.
I own a 89 Yamaha RX 100 and a RE Machismo. Although I do ride the Machismo quite often, I prefer riding the Yam.

As an in-process mechanical engineer, I try not to take it to the mechanic for every small nook and crook, I try to do it myself. For eg: I cleaned the carb (placed the jet needle upside down due to which the fuel started coming out of the carb , but all that is a part of learning I guess :P).

I am a SAE BAJA 2012 participant too

After reading the posts here about repairs and bike rides and reviews and what not it feels as if this is my thing !

    Regards

    Mohammad Umar

Welcome aboard Umar. Hope you enjoy your stay here.

BTW, out of curiosity Umar, are your DIY(s) by books or do you have innovative ideas in it and incorporate?

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well
and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

As I have just started with third year, I havent come accross automobile engg as a subject till now. Although, I did refer to G.B.S Narang for my basics.
But to be honest, that didn't help much! So now, I open up things on my own first and then try to see what the 'funda' is and then I try and relate it to what I read.

I do try my level best to assemble things again :P

brother believe me, the automobile books which you are going to study have very little thats of importance.. and also the teachers won't give any help in proper explanation.. i had automobile subject in 5th sem..
do such little things by yourself and try to gain in-depth knowledge of whatever you study.. that would help you a lot..
                          stay safe..

It certainly helps things get in to our heads when we learn it the practical method. Maybe try labeling the parts you remove and it should help you put back things in order. Good luck!
