It all started as a kid sitting on the tank of my dad's TVS-Suzuki Max-100R. The feel of the wind hitting my face increased my pulse rate, i got addicted instantly, i did not want my heart to slow down and ever since I never got enough of it. I finally ended my hunt for instant access for a "dose of adrenalin". Yeah, you could argue there are more fun things like bunjee jumping, roller coaster rides, sky diving, F1 racing, drugs, sex etc..etc, but for the son of a middle class farmer, my choice was pretty obvious.
My village being located close to NH4 (Hiriyur, Chitradurga), my life was surrounded by the transport industry. The other occupations excluding farming were what my cousins had taken up bike mechanics, car mechanics, drivers etc. Cars never really fascinated me, because the fun was in driving and I never actually got to drive one. The picture of sports bike stayed long in my mind, unlike the the pictures of a super car which I forgot the moment I turned away from it.
So I had it all figured it out, but first I had to buy a bike (that too a Yamaha RX135...my first love) and of course with my own money. And yes, the wait was very long, but every time I heard a two stroke engine it sparked my eagerness, keeping me anxious, till the day my dream was bound to come true. Finally completed my B-Tech and landed a job in Coimbatore, and the search was on. It really did not matter how many previous owners it had or how many Km it had traveled , I was going to buy it. Much to the reluctance of my family in my decision to buy an old and cheap bike after being tagged "foreign return" (my company had deputed me to Germany). It had become a prestige issue of my family. Can't express the feeling when I kick started the bike the first time as its proud owner. Till today every time a start it, the unique growl of of the RX135 makes me go high for a fraction of a second.
When I just had thought my dreams were taking shape, little did I realize that in a professional life (were you are expected to travel) you biking dreams remain as dreams. But I was stubborn and willing to give up, I had the machine I just needed a group who had similar interests. In this never ending fight to balance passion and profession I was loosing time (24 years already and my need for speed had reduced drastically). Just when everything was getting routine and monotonous I happened to meet the "Throttlerz" one of the best stunt groups of India.
As much as I was happy meeting them, I cursed myself for not meeting them earlier enough even though being in the same city for more than two years. I had just entered this crazy world of freestyle stunt biking. I was ready for it all, fixed crash gaurds, twelve bars, rear hand brakes, gloves, helmets, knee gaurds etc. Watching the Duke 200 burn rubber during weekends and developing software which one day would go into these same KTM on weekdays, it was feeling which cannot be expressed.
Hardly had I practiced for two days and my jinxed biker life showed up again, I got a job opportunity In Gurgaon which I could not refuse. Missing the tips from Prashanth Anna and Biju Anna and the endless time spent fixing bikes at Sudhakar mechanic shop. But looking at the brighter side I came to Delhi with a lot of road trips in mind, specially Leh Ladak which I had so longed for then Biddh International Circuit, Chandigarh, Hrishikesh, Shimla, Agra, Jaipur, Amritsar etc. So I now needed a new bike which I could use in Gurgaon and take for long rides as well. And how could I ignore the Duke 390, 0-100kmph in 5.6 sec.., that was crazy. Again booked the bike with opposition from my family , this time for the cost and the power of the bike.., but the end result was..:-).
But in my biker life "jinxed" is an understatement, 3.5 months of waiting time. But lets leave the boring part, I just received my bike 2 weeks back and it was time to find a group here in Delhi. After a search on the internet, found a couple of groups were you needed a 1000cc super bike to join. Came across xbhp and I was happy and stunned at the same time, there was group for Bajaj CT100 owners. I had just realised how big this community was and how less I knew about bikes. Here I came across so much adventures and information which could keep me occupied for an entire life time, happy to meet guys and I am sure I will get all the help to get my "jinxed" biker life to a brand new start. Looking forward to meet all of u ..:-)
