  • Hello xBHP

Hello Everyone . I am Moksh Verma from Delhi working as a software engineer . Already feeling great becoming a part of this community . Thanks xBHP .

Nothing much was happening in life, same old 9 - 5 job, slow crawling life . I never did any kind of touring or riding, never had any friends who were interested in same . I had a second hand pulsar 150 2003 model which served me well for 9 years until recently started giving me all kind of troubles after which I gave up on her . So I started looking for new ride, ACTIVA came to my mind first, I thought it would be so much relaxing to have a small gearless ride, went to showroom, took a test ride and thought 'nehh' not much fun . I decided to go for pulsar 150 cc after I took a test ride as I found it to be relaxing with adequate speed and acceleration . Went to the showroom to get the paper work done . Sitting there I saw this duke standing in a corner with 'demo duke' written on it. I asked the sales guy there about it and he said 'ye bhi achi hai chala kar dekh lo' . I said okay no harm in test ride .

As I got closer to it, I had a smile on my face looking at the sheer beauty of the bike . Sat on it, started it and sweet sound started to come under the bike . As soon as I engaged the gear and opened the throttled , WOW that was it , whole world turned upside down for me . It went like a missile to me . Sheer power, light weight and the precision blew me away . Never had such an adrenaline rush on two wheels . I told the guy I ll take the pulsar next week . Went back home, told my dad they didn't have the black colour so next week lenge :P and indirectly told him about some bike named duke and its cost and immediately my dad's expression gave me the red flag : ( . At that moment I thought of buying the cheapest two wheeler possible and save my money for the future duke instead . I was sad . I kept thinking about the bike even at work, searched through tons of articles on xbhp about the bike and that motivated me a lot . So I went with a nervous mind next week, kept my foot down, got my loan approved and bought the orange monster, the Duke 200 . Came back home riding extra cautiously and to my surprise even my dad loved it . It surely is a head turner as I see people's head turning a lot. It's an overwhelming situation for me as I never had such a complex and powerful bike .

Now I want to know everything, I have started reading everything about the bike, engines, brakes, How to ride, how to break-in ( never heard of it before and never cared about it earlier ) lots and lots of How To's including how to ride on tracks and stuff . Got myself some cool riding, safety gear and official merchandise which I wear with pride . I am learning about all the microscopic details and techniques of riding on tracks . I want to join a pro-biking type school ( if it exists in Delhi ) and go on laps riding and racing on tracks for sure . I feel this a transition phase in my life . Now I have a passion for something which won't ever die : ) . Never thought a little throttle could do this much magic . Sorry for such a long intro, blame it on my excitement : )

Finally, Life is Orange and I am Ready to Race >>

    Thank You xBHP

    Re: Hello xBHP

    Intro Approved.

A nice description of how you got the Duke. I think you're referring to Duke 200, right? Duke is also available in a 390 version. I rode both and found that 200 is better suited for instant acceleration needed in the city. I loved the 200's instant response after 2000 rpm. I literally loved it.

Though, I think that KTM did maintain a distance between 200 and 390: both can be liked for their respective attributes by the same person.

Please go to the Delhi G2G thread on Xbhp and meet some like minded bikers in person, and they will guide you on how to proceed further with your interest. & Welcome to Xbhp. And, I like your name ID "Dukist". I'm one too.

Thank you so much Samarth and thanks to xBHP for this wonderful community.
Yes I was referring to Duke 200, sorry I forgot to mention there and you are right, even at low rpm's, it's response is awesome.
Duke 390 , as I felt is a more matured and tamed bike upto a certain rpm (6K I guess) only, after that it's screaming beast like nothing, nothing comes even close to it.
For now I am happy with my little untamed beast and looking forward to have a nice time and stay as a responsible member of this awesome xBHP family.
      Cheers!

Welcome aboard fellow dukist! The bike is one raving mad beast! I had the first glimpse of it in a secret bajaj dealer-only convention (people saw the duke 200 for the first time in India and nobody was even allowed to touch their phones let alone cameras when it was unveiled).I fell in love there itself. Secretly explored the bike back-stage and decided to buy it whenever it was launched no matter what!

Went straight to the KTM showroom and bought the beast as soon as my infosys training days were over in 2012. And the love affair continues still..
