  • Hello Everyone :)

    Hi Guys,

This is my first thread in xbhp . I am a software engineer from chennai. i am also a guitarist and vocalist in a rock band , we are yet to name it . but we are very serious . anyways i got this interest to travel long distances in bike for the past couple of years but i am so scared to make the first step, what would happen if the tyre gets punctured, or what would happen if suddenly the air filter gets damaged i know that bike will stop, but these things just bother me from making long drives , the maximum distance i covered is i started from tambaram east to near kalpakkam and back but after reading the posts from other riders now i am getting some spark of courage to make long distances . i will start with chennai to pondicherry travel and then i can call myself a real biker (H).

Berfore that i need some help, i need to know some information on basic bike gears that i need for long travels
i am not a racer, i am scared to drive fast anything more than 100 :P, seriously. so let me know for an new rider who wants to travel long distances, what you will propose that he/she begin with to wear and carry along , if suppose their is a thread already for this kindly reply me with that post .

Also, please tell me some good shops for buying jackets/gloves/pants in chennai

    thanks a lot
looking forward for wonderful times here .

I AM NOT A RACER, not good enough to be one. I love to ride with feel and look around the sceneic beauty, feel the air and energise myself .

      Re: Hello Everyone

      Hi,
A lot many people have a stirr against riding long solo so iv seen hence it is a personal perspective but you know if you really want to travel long distances you can carry these as precautionary measures :
      1) safety first aid kit, including flu tablets, pain killer tablets, calpol as I do & will as it has proved beneficial.
      2) puncture repair kit - it is easy to repair a tube less tyre,if. You can tyre inflator cans from companies like motul, etc
      3) spare parts like clutch, acc cable.
      4) a standard tool kit.
      5) safety gears - your helmets, jacket, gloves.

Make sure your bike is ready for the trip. All these in brief can help you prevent you from unwanted situations however which if they accrue in course of time you should understand that these are part of life & they teach us something about ourselves, helps us learn to deal with our problems atleast that's the way I look at it.
      Ride safe
