At 8k it would surely wheelie if you dropped the clutch, but like i said earlier you will need to tame the wheelie. The idea is to slip the clutch a bit to get the bike to accelerate through the revs without a wheelie. Also positioning your body, i.e more of front bias will help in keeping the front end more planted.Originally posted by EL LOCO DIABLO View Post8k off the line!!!
, and no wheelie?? it's no wonder you are reserved special treatement
, but we all knew that the R15 was being used at levels wayyyyyy down below it's potential and yesterday there a lot of rider errors too, probably when you come here sometime you can give us a exhaustive tutorial of dragging and riding around the track
R15 again needs to be revved and kept in the boil. But rest assured, it wont wheelie like an RTR

^^ Knowing Joel through the posts and threads previously i would'nt be surprised, if the R15 already has a little "tweak" in it

@Joel: I'm still too amateur to try that sort of thing! first of all i dont know how to keep the revs afloat for that few seconds
I'm too intelligent to the unintended, and too dumb for the obvious.

yesterday back home I just decided to do a few launches. So my 1 week old bike has clocked 1300kms and running-in has been completed long long ago
Would pull a launch at around 7-8k and it was surprising feeling as fast as my Group D RTR, but not quite.
About the performance mods, I'm just too tempted to strip the engine and start all the works. For now I need to hold things for a few months, if I plan to race in the stock class. Later if I have plans of souping up, I wont leave any stone unturned. It will be all-out only!

The only difference you can feel compared to Group D RTR is the vibes, this thing doesn't vibrate at any rpms or at any speed, that's the one thing we dont feel the speed until we see the speedoOriginally posted by Joel View Postyesterday back home I just decided to do a few launches. Not really. I have ridden the R15 on the track and there are vives. The reason the RTR vibes a little more is coz we remove the end weights, which could arrest a lot of handlebar nonsense.Originally posted by mithun.08 View PostThe only difference you can feel compared to Group D RTR is the vibes, this thing doesn't vibrate at any rpms or at any speed, that's the one thing we dont feel the speed until we see the speedo
The R15 was feeling really disappointing in the stock trim. I mean no punch at all. The RTR always feels more lively.sigpic

Ride the RTR FI, its a whole lot more refined because of better fuel metering. Again look at the stroking factors of both the RTR and R15. The RTR being a screamer short stroke will always produce slight vibrations. The R15 runs a balancer shaft and also its a long stroke and more relaxed, which is a bad thing for a being a performance bike. I think I have said this a million times on this forum. The R15 has a hopeless bore/stroke to be called a YZF series engine. I was cruising on this bike at over 100kmph and it felt good and relaxed. Take it to a track to thrash and you will find it disapponting. This engine would have best suited a cruiser. The RTR is exactly the opposite. A screamer on a highway, but superb throttle feedback. The best combo would have been an RTR engine in the R15 frame. Damn!Originally posted by mithun.08 View PostThat because of the refinement that RTR lacks and R15 has
But the R15 has exceptional handling which is the reason why I picked this.
A few track pics from the last session.,

Nice pics there Joel....... I was of the same feeling... coz when you come out of the corners.... the R15 feels pretty sluggish (no agression)..... very low on power/torque.... feels amazing past 6-7k rpm. And as you said..... it wud suit a cruiser... with a 6th gear overdrive.
On the other hand.... the RTR feel torquey throughout the rev range....Chetan

Well who rides it below 7k in the track. Its always lept in the boil. However the engine still feels sluggish over the RTR, which has that aggression. There is a reason to it, which is purely technical.
But overall a good bike will good overall capabilities.sigpic
