Hey guys, even though im working in Mysore, i'm from Chandigarh. There are many less-budget hotels, in the sec 35 market, sec 26 market ( madhya marg ). Also, if you are on a bike tour, the bus stands at sec 17,43 would be a good place to find/enquire about a dormitory or really budget hotels. From the top of my mind, there is a very small hotel in sec 27 market, just adjacent to sec 28/27 traffic lights. I'm sorry but i cannot pin point any hotel in particular, since i never had the need for one.

If you wanna go bit higher, then sec 22 (just opp sec 17 bus stand) has a hotel Sunbeam (thats the name i guess) which is quite a popular one. Honestly, if i were you, i would first head to sec 35 market ( as i have spotted many hotels there ), and you have many eating joints and a good market there.

    Hope it helps.

PS: really sad to see the kind of response (none actually) coming from Chandigarh where actually you have the best roads, and still better traffic sense than most cities, so expected a better biking culture there.

^^ Thanks for the leads there varun.

Cross-posting from the Leh 2014 thread: I have a brand new Spartan Helios (will use it for the first time in the ride). People are advising me against wearing a mesh jacket to leh for obvious reasons. Seems like even if I do multiple layers beneath the jacket and a raincoat on top of that, won't be enough to fight the cold(?) What I am looking is if someone (from Delhi) not riding to Leh woul want to exchange my Helios with a Textile(? or leather) jacket for the duration of the trip? I would return the same when I come back to Delhi. Or is there anyone from whom I can rent a jacket. I don't want to spend a bomb on a jacket I won't be using much. A mesh generally suffices in a tropical nation such as ours.

I have to come to chd for 2 days for some office work, and I would be coming by bike. Would look out hotels in sector 35 and sector 27, thanks.
Also, I have heard there is a very good crowd in sector 35 market in terms of girls. So, I would surely look out there.

I really can't give you a professional opinion persae, as i'm myself gonna buy the helios in the upcoming weeks, and i'm planning a trip to Ladkah in Mid July, but what i understand is that with Mesh jackets, you will get a thermal layer also. Along with lots of layering ( thats how i was planning to tackle the cold ), i hoped it would suffice, but i'm sure folks who have already visited the place might paint a better picture.
So i have the exact same doubt as you

PS: i was hoping July would'nt be THAT cold.
