          • I was actually pleasantly surprised at the amount of things that can be learnt about in such an unassuming place.

The '8' exercise was top notch, many people realized that it takes real skills to do that. Even better was the around the pillar skill test.

@SunilG: You riding had improved a lot, the Shimla Motorcycle Challenge has done a world of good! Keep rocking!

@Old Fox: It was indeed a pleasure learning from you. Looking forward to more such enriching sessions.

                  • Was it really worth???

Last evening, when I reached Delhi,I was asking myself---Is it Really worth Riding in Cold to attend a Yet another G2G?

and Today , after coming back from the Meet...I had the answer...YES! it was worth!
Not for the Chit-Chat, not for the leg Pulling(of u know who!),not for even The Delicious Snacks ka naashta...... The Meet was worth---it made me realize that its just not for how many years You have been Driving/Riding, its rather for the fact that how well have you been noticing your weak points and how well have you been working towards those Points.

Last Night, before going to bed, I had set up the Alarm on my Mobile for 0600 hrs., dint want to be late at the Much Hyped Meeting.
come 0600 hrs and the mobile alarm reminded me of leaving the bed and getting ready for a short ride to Noida at Old Fox's premises.

after getting ready and before I started my Bike, I called up Sarab( aka Sarab FI) only to know that he would be somewhat late.
I Started my Bike and looked at the watch...Damn... its already 0729 hrs, and we were supposed to meet at DND Flyway at 0745 hrs.
I still had to Tank up and no way can I reach to the Flyway by the scheduled time....am gonna be late--I said to myself.
I rode like a Decent Crazy( Such a word does NOT Exist!) and after getting the fuel at IOL Petrol Station at Nanak Pura..I again Rode Like a DECENT crazy!
I was at the start of the toll Road by 0751 hrs only to see just two Bikes. I stooped near them and without opening the Visor, I asked those two Young Lads, Bhai Saab,Noida k liyey yehi rasta jaata hai!
at first, they said..yeh to xbhp ka hai but then they thought, perhaps not and told me -haan yehi jata hai...
I opened up the visor only to be Greeted by Aryan and RX!
after usual Hi and Hello, we waited for others till 0800 hrs, but as none reached there, we decided to push off for the Venue.
the Sort ride till Noida was good and as we approached Rajni Gandha Chowk, we three were greeted by few more XBHPians.
and the ride proceeded further to the venue.
on reaching there, we were Glad to see a Good Turn out already.
L.P as usual was on Top of His voice, taking full advantage of his Vocal Chords. Chintu,Ankur and the Gang were Chit Chatting. fir say wohi..hi hello, aurr sunaa kya haal chaal hai...wageyrah wageyrah!
we were served Sweet Tea along with Biscuits, Courtsey Old Fox!
and More and More people kept on pouring in. Manan came on His Comet with some crazy GXR sticker!! By close to 9, it was a good Turn out already, and then came the Two R1.
Sunny along with Ken came and neatly parked their R1 in.
so, finally, we started off with the skill session.
first of all it was to complete a Figure of 8 in the passage area.
L.P took the initiative and tried to make 8.
OF noted his riding and told him the Key working area. Lappoo understood and completed the figure of 8 without touching his feet to the ground...a round of applause followed.
then came in one more rider, but courtesy the greying cells of Yours Truly, I forgot who!!
Rx. too tried the 8 formation but his 220 just would Not take that tight turns.
I too tried making 8, but failed on my ZMA. OF offered his Zma which definately had a better Low end and a better Handle Bar position, but after scrapping the side box once and Nearly missing the ground, I called it over.

Sunilg was the show stealer with his Perfect 8 on his Uni and with each 8 adding under his belt( peverts...dont go That much Down!!), his turns were tightening more and more, and he maintained a good Constant Speed!

Few more tried their skills, some could do it, some could not.
OF made us all understand the basic Rule and Method.
well behind all this, the Idea was not to Show who is a better Rider, the Idea was...lets all Rise up to a common platform where we all should be better riders first of all.
then came the next big Job. making tight circle around a pillar in the hall, that had a bad traction as compared to the one on the tarmac.
OF again displayed his skills and made wonderfully tight Circles on his ZMA.
handle locked to left, absolute no use of Clutch, little or no accelerator used and Sharp Crisp Rounds, turn by turn.
He even rode with just one hand to the Handle bar and his left hand in Air.
Lappo as ever with his sheer enthusiasm took the initiative and completed his ZERO(read Circle!)followed by Aryan and more.
Most of us tried the challenge and OF acted as Mentor and telling us, where we need to work on.
am sure there were quite a few who perhaps did not Budge forward to take up the task. either they were apprehensive or whatever.
but yes, am sure, who all did and who all did NOT, the central Idea of facing the challenge and coming out with flying colors was clearly conveyed.
it was all about understanding the response of the machine, asking her to do it the way we want it to and shifting the body weight along with concentration towards braking, accelerator etc.
in the mean time, Grama Garam chai was being served and Sunny was busy with His Camera taking pics.
OF also showed some good burn out on our desi bike and then on R1.
something that seems to be so easy for him was a Goliath task for many..including Yours Truly.
OF also showed us some amazing biking Videos and it was just a treat to the eyes.
in the mean time Lappoo along with a bunch volanteered to bring some eatable, it was already close to 11. money was collected from all and Lappoo along with some mates brought in a truck full of eatable( just a lil bit of exxageration though for the quantity).
we chit chatted for some time more and then, me and Aryan shook hands with one and all and left for the day.

I would not be naming one and all, as this is not a Thanks Giving Speech after winning some Film fare award, but I would definately would like to Thank Old Fox for all that he taught us today. it will definately be of Great help to us all.
Looking forward for more of these skill sessions......
and yes, this Ride down to Delhi was worth every single penny spent, and all the pain I suffered.

P.S: missed Ravi Dalal and Desi a lot!
and yes, Excuse me for my spelling mistakes, has been a problem ever since!!
Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

                    • .awesome.

Finally i have got time to write up .!
so the pictures from my side.

Old fox sir showing the right way to do the lock handle turn

waiting in the moring at DND.
I knew that bending of this sort I could have not practised had it been OLD FOX sir with his exuberant skills that i actually tried and was able to execute the same with a bit practice.
The making 8 was not easy at all .. specially with my bike.
The full lock turn turned out to be a cakewalk. But the point being that doing such an exercise had never crossed my mind.So it was worthwhile indeed.!
Really pleased to meet the old guns of our community.
All the R1's were fabulous. So were the videos that old fox shared with us.
And a glimpse of an RD 350 added up to the excitement.
Waiting eagerly for more such sessions to learn and improve my skills.
@ all this kinda G2G should be organised once a month if not every week.

                              • That is what I call a Biker's G2G. It was really nice to see such a good turnout of enthusiastic members. There is still so much to learn, so much to do and practice, so much to ride and so many roads to go to...

@Sunny: Thanks for the morning sessions and then taking me to Noida.

@Old Fox: Thanks for making it a REAL Biker's G2G! Indebted to you on various counts.

@ALL: Thanks for actually coming on a chilly winter morning, showing your enthusiasm, honing your skills and doing what we should be doing... taking our relationship with motorcycling even further.

This was a great G2G! For once I am thanking the recession now that I am without work.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!
