I did not see any information on these items in the thread, not sure if i have missed out. It would be good to share the details if a plan is already chalked out so that everyone has a clear cut idea of the agenda and so we can stick to the schedules. Looking Forward to seeing you all!
    Thanks guys!
Hold your horses brother. Details will be put up soon and also will be briefed during the pre rides. We are also bound by professional commitments which needs to be attended. No big rides are done without these details, kindly give us some time.

Its time for the mighty soldiers on two wheels to hit the tarmac again, for a rainy assault.

Just one thing I would like to add here is, inform home and office that you might not pick the call during the ride day and ask them to send sms so that you can get back when you have a chance.

As we nearby the riding day..my excitement soars high. When eddie is riding 'Don't Walk' !!

Suggest a person from each region/group to have the gps and google+ on so the other people would have an idea of the others location without the need to make phone calls which can be distracting and also slow down the group . I guess to enable location sharing they need to be linked on google+.

Respective groups can reach the destination and there's no compulsion to wait for others. One needs to stay with the group and keep the lead informed which is very important.

Infact, leads will be updated on each others location.

                • Re: Inter State G2G : 2013 - Planning Thread

Ok as promised, a detailed Post :
                  Hello all,
Firstly wanna congratulate for making time for the ISGTG 2013-Kodaikanal.
Few things I wanted to make it clear before the start of the ride. Not sure how many are riding with XBHP or a big group or such long distance for the first time, so let me start from the basics.

                  First and foremost:
Everybody will be equally treated, irrespective of their association of the individual with any other group/Forum. Please do not try to market/advertise any group unnecessarily that others might feel uncomfortable/cause rifts. Lets not let such a thing ruin the joy of riding.

                  Riding Gears:
Helmets: Full face are a must. Cap type one are not accepted.
Jackets( Armoured Jackets, If not any thick jacket to protect your skin, Make sure you are comfortable riding with that even during afternoon)
Riding Gloves: Proper riding gloves which covers all the fingers. Cycling/Snooker/Half gloves are a big No-No
Knee protection, in case you are not using riding pants.
Shoes: If not a proper riding shoes, any leather shoes with ample amount of protection. As far as possible avoid sport shoes as the level of safety they offer is very minimal. Chappals/Sandals are a Strict No.
A good rain gear to protect you from rain.
If anybody wants to divert from the above said rules, Please stay at home or ride separately.

                  Vehicle Documents:
                  Valid Driving License.
PUC(Pollution Under control) or Emission certificate.
Proper registration documents for the bike.
                  Valid Insurance Papers.
All the above said Documents, In original and copies of it. Whenever you are riding in groups, its gets more attention from the RTO/Police, so they try their best to extract “information”. Let us not give it a chance.

                  Ride plan:

                  Ride formations:
The group, since it’s a big one, will be split into groups based on speeds that people are comfortable doing:
                  1.Super Fast group(110kmph+)
                  2.Fast group(90-110Kmph)
                  3.slow group (70-90kmph)
4.Unless anybody is willing to ride below 70, which will take ages to reach Kodaikanal.
However, the final decision of splitting the groups will be taken by the city/State lead depending on the Route/Terrain the induvidual groups would be taking.

Request all of you to adhere to group riding ethics. If you thing you are above the rules of the book , request you to ride alone rather causing nuisance amongst others. The group sweep and lead will be decided before the ride, based on the participation of group rides earlier on such long runs and also familiarity with the route.
Break points will be decided before hand to facilitate better re grouping and fuel breaks.
Kindly go through this for better understanding about group rides: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/art-safe...up-riding.html

The route that we will be taking is :
                  For Bangalore Team : http://goo.gl/maps/vKjee
                  For Coimbatore Team : http://goo.gl/maps/t7F6O
                  For Chennai Team : http://goo.gl/maps/zXxz7
For Tvm and Cochin Team : http://goo.gl/maps/kwfRE (The two teams will be meeting up at Mundakayam and riding together there onwards)

Plan is to reach Kodaikanal as far as possible in Day light, which is very much possible, even with the lowest capacity of bikes in the group, if ridden with discipline and minimum number of break. Taking ample amount of rest before the ride makes wonders. Group riding will definitely kill time, as against solo or small/well co ordinated group of 2 or 3. Also being rainy season, riding in the hills is even trickier when combined with the chillness around.

Kindly have the bikes in the best possible condition before the ride. Please don't leave anything to breakdown due to your error. However under unforeseen circumstances, 2 people will be along with the rider to help him fix things and continue the journey. The rest of the group will continue as per schedule.

                  Meet Schedule(For all the teams):
Day 1 : Reach the hotel
Day 2 : Ride to a lake nearby in the morning and come back to the hotel for lunch. A small sessions on DIY/Tech Talk/Motorcycling Detailing would be planned. Ride to Kookal in the evening.
(P.S: Day 2 is dependent on weather, if any reshuffling has to be made , will be done accordingly.)
Day3 : Start from Kodaikanal early morning and reach Bangalore by evening. We will be taking the same route on the return journey as well.

Things to kept in mind while riding :
*First and foremost, focus need to be on riding.
                  *Stay with the group.
*In case you come across any wildlife, GIVE WAY, Honking/Flasing lights will only attract trouble not only for you but the entire group.
*Stunting/drag racing is NOT ACCEPTABLE. People who take such measures, will be asked to leave the group.
*Do not irritate the truck drivers by progressive honking, more so if it’s a long container body/wind mill accessories, Its not easier for them to shift lanes, immediately on request. Be patient. The same applies for fast moving cars as well.
*Do not take chances with a localite who whole heartedly willing to have a drag race with you/Group. Let them pass.
*Stay Hydrated throughout the ride. A hour on the saddle is good enough to have you dehydrated. Avoid consumption of aerated(Like pepsi/Coke etc) and Energy drinks. Energy drinks can be effective only for few minutes, once the effectiveness of the drink deteriorates , you would be more tired than you were at the first place.
*If it starts raining on the four lanes roads, stay on the left side of the road.
*Judicial usage of Headlight and indicators for obvious reasons.
*Always have a lookout for the rider behind you on the RVM. If you don’t have an RVM, get a pair ASAP. If you dont get one now, you will not get it in future as well.

16.Carry spare keys for the bikes/Saddle bags etc .
A thing or two about packing/luggage fastening :
Touring involves luggage to be carried, a lot for many and a little for few.

                  Luggage may include:
                  Backpacks
                  Tank Bags
                  Saddle bags
                  Panniers
                  Top cases etc etc

It is a very important aspect to have a look at your luggage before you start a ride. Any loose straps or bungee chords may prove fatal to the rider(and pillion , if present). Also it has to be kept in mind that the handling of the bike should not be compromised while loading the bike. Modern day saddle bags/tank bags and panniers are very helpful in increasing the overall luggage carrying capacity on the bikes. At the same time , it relieves the rider from carrying it on his back. Packing your luggage into inside those panniers/bags is a different art altogether.

Key aspects to be looked into while loading the saddle:
*Load should be equally distributed in case of saddle bags or side panniers for better handling.
*If using a top case make sure the cantilever is not so long that the case hangs out of the bike.
*If using a backpack for travel, tie it to the back of the bike using bungee chords. Carrying a backpack on you for a long time is stressful and not recommended. At the same time carry spare spare bungee chords , just in case the one in use snaps.
*Make sure that the top case and panniers are properly fastened/locked.
*Keep in mind the ability/Power of your vehicle to carry the laden luggage.
*It is recommended to carry luggage which have a good number of outer pockets, it provide easy access to stuff like Phone/Maps/Water bottle etc etc, so that you dont have to open the complete baggage to find the necessary stuff
*Make sure that your luggage doesn't come in contact with the rotating wheel/ Silencer at any instant. This is more common in bikes with mono-shocks or swept silencers
                  *Travelling light is always recommended.
