Itz a bit confusing guys. Kamshet in not on the amby route it comes on the route which leads to the Karla caves. Near amby we have the Bhushi dam which is a hydro electricity project, I dont knw the wht the backwaters of the dam r called. Whereas near kamshet there ia Pavana lake...........
Kamshet is famous for paragliding. Im yet studin the map & tryin to find out whether the place is worth it....................
Maybe i visted Pavana lake then, dont remember.
BTW: did i hear someone say paragliding? Had clicked these on my way back from Mahabaleshwar.[26/01/08]

P.S: Sorry for the OT guys, couldn't resist

There is a route from Pune to Amby valley via Paud village.. If I am not wrong, it goes via Pavana.

And secondly about Kamshet lake, you guys are probably trying to find the lake closer to Uksan village. If yes, then be prepared for some bad road or at few points no roads.

Yaaaaa thts lake is also there but the roads are very bad I guesss & no one wants a R15 on those roads .

I want to visit the Pavana Dam/Lake. Finally after 3hrs of searchin ive spot it on the map . Very remote very very remote area, you need to get of NH4 at Kamshet which is around 10-15 kms from lonavla. From Kamshet there is a single lane road which leads to the Pavana dam (There are few lefts & rights to be taken......). From the sat view on the map the roads seem to be bad. The approx distance from Kamshet to Pavana Dam is 50km approx .

Here is a birds eye view...

You won't have to go to Kamshet for that.. You can reach Pawana from Lonavala. Take the same deviation from NH4 towards Amby Valley.. at the little circle where you need to take a right to go to Amby, go straight, through the city till you get a triangular chown with a statue, take a left there and follow the road for about 15 kms.. BTW.. it's also the route to Lohagad..

Considering it was May that you have been there I must admit must be a good ride even at this time of the year.

@Hydro: when was your visit. The water level in the dam seem to be 'decently' high.
