In that case, it should be "try nana peth"

does anyone know a person who is working for a disc brakes design firm? wanted to know the detailed construction of a disc brake caliper without ruining the one on my bike :P.

yesterday, i discovered a solution to the front tyre wobble... I have changed the front tyre to tubeless type and the wobbles are gone.

putting this here cos initially, mechanics were sugesting all types of solutions like front bearing change, fork over hauling, cone set change, one of them even said re alignment of chasis and re balancing of engine. but finally the trusted mech checked the whole front assly and pointed the problem to the tyre. so got it changed and the wobbles vanished.

summary is that wobbles do not necessarily mean that the bearings are gone. it could be cos of the tyre.

Was the tyre like pretty old? How was the condition of the tyre?

                • @ alibaba- if you know someone who sells projectors for R15 do let meknow.

@rockrz - try running the bike on rim, i am sure you will not get any vobbling. :P Jokes apart i think this issue was quiet old and i had suggested you to try with the R15 front tyre.

Yup, Tyre was quite old and it also had been patched once due to a long nail. maybe that was the cause.
I did not expect a small patch to cause noticeable wobbles.
even though theoretically, any small imbalance causes wobbles, but due to tread pattern and the contact patch of tyre on road, most of the times these minor wobbles are damped out by tyre itself. but seems my theory went grossly haywire :P .
just putting this up here since most of the times mechanics insist on changing the bearing, axles, cone sets and what not. whereas the problem lies somewhere else :P

                      @antz, thanks for the link.
but the reason why i asked for the person is that the brake pads have worn out but they were working good (no screeching or heating). but the front tyre was not rotating freely. one side of the caliper is touching the disc.
then i installed new pads, the caliper stopped touching the pads so want to know the reason why this happened. i checked for improper fitting of caliper but that seems fine. so i was just curious...

                      • Pulsar 150 Classic out of true

My Pulsar 150 Classic is behaving oddly ever since I had it serviced in Delhi in 2009. It seems that the bike is out of true i.e. the front fork assy is following a different path compared to the rest of the bike. I am fed up of asking Bajaj ASCs, they give all kinds of advice but will not guarantee that the problem will not go away. Tyre wear is normal but the bike just does not feel true in alignment. Any suggestions?

The tyres are quite new and were fitted properly, all bearings are fine, forks are straight as is the rear swing arm...

is the bike pulling to one side? i mean, if you speed up to 75-80 kmph, and take the hands off the handle, does the bike go in a particular direction?

if yes, its the fork that is gone.

if no, keep your hands off the handle and let the bike slow down to around 40 kmph. if in the meantime, there are no wobbles, your front bearings, tyres are fine.
if the bike wobbles, the problem could be related to any of the below:
                          1 front end bearings busted.
2 tyre tread worn out / unevenly worn.
3 recent patchup performed on the tyre which is causing imbalance and causing wobbles
4 rim might need balancing (last action if none of the above is the cause)

if the bike does not wobble, take a corner at comfortable speeds and check if the bike tends to maintain the corner or not. i mean you should get a feeling that the bike keeps following the turn radius. now when you pull out of the corner, do you require lot of force to come out? or does the bike feel as if it is hesitating to pul ut of the corner?
in this case, the culprit is the rear swing arm bush or the rear tyre or it could be improper tensioning of the chain (both sides of the axle have not been tightened to the same level).

these are just quick guesses. better if you can find a good mechanic and ask a complete inspection.
