Anybody in Pune who wants to have a go at installing the Puncture Resistant sealants?
The stuff works pretty smart, and unlike other sealants it does not make the wheel wobbles! Some riders from Vasai already have this, and even our very own Pratheek Kunder has installed this.
Benefits:
- More tyre life
- headache free riding
- Reduction in Vibes
- Auto rebalancing
- No Punctures (except on the side walls - for which you would have to ride through a truck of nails, or corner and ensure you catch the nails. Theoritcally possible, but low chance!)

If we have a good turnout, we could seek the instalation at cost price.

Whats the difference between knee sliders and the knee guards which are in riding pants.

Are knee sliders a part of riding suit only and are not in riding pants or is it something else?

AFAIK, knee sliders are not only for riding suits. those are availabe for pants also. but your pant has to have the provision for knee sliders. As i saw it on one of our xbhpians, knee sliders are placed on the outside of the pant using velcro. i dont think any riding pant can have knee sliders. please correct me if i am wrong

It depends on the tyre size. On stock P220 the discounted price was some 1400rs, on stock N650 the price was 1900rs

Since I own both a DSG Maze(Mesh, bought for 6k) and a Cramster Raptor(Textile, bought for 5.2k), I feel I can compare the two. DSG Maze is a jacket which has very little use in Pune like climate.

In summers, you might *feel* that the jacket is very comfortable and helps you keep cool. But in reality, it can severely dehydrate you within 100km of riding in the sun. With a Textile jacket, you can keep going all day much more easily. Hence, useful only inside city for short commutes. Impractical for summer touring. Textile jackets help retain the body fluids. So, even though you will be sweaty at the end of the day, you wont be dehydrated.

In winters, if the temperature drops below 20, it will be waay too airy to wear without the liner. Even with the thermal liner, the airflow is still too much as the cold wind can still get to you through the zippers (as the liner doesn't cover it from inside). Getting a textile jacket for any winter commutes/touring is the smarter thing to do.

In light rains, since the jacket is mesh based, it won't even be able to save you in case of drizzles, and only the chest and shoulders are spared for sometime (due to the sponge based chest protector and the shoulder leather inserts). Arms get wet. A textile jacket will at least save you in case of a drizzle without needing to stop for putting on a Raincoat. For anything more than a slight drizzle, both jackets are useless without a Raincoat.

And thats the reason why even though I own both the aforementioned jackets, due to its extremely limited usability, not many people have seen me wearing my DSG Maze.

If however, the usage will be purely city, a Mesh based jacket is the smart thing to have.

I have a Maze and an Octane and I've been using the Octane for both, my daily commute as well as longer rides.

by sweaty, he means that the sweat does not evaporate so you do not continue to lose body fluids.

On a hot summer afternoon, when you are riding, the sweat is evaporated quickly. the faster you ride, the faster the sweat is evaporated and the faster you lose water. hence, you need to take frequent water breaks and lesser pee ones :P . however, if you do not use a ventilated jacket, since the sweat does not evaporate, the rate of fluid loss is a bit less.

but still, i'd prefer to be comfy with more water breaks and less pressure of peeing :P... to hell with dehrdration :P
