Re: 5th Anniversary ISG2G - Wayanad

Ranjith, Legend Racer is very new to this event. It will take him time to understand and appreciate the efforts. If one decides to disgrace the guys who put the efforts for himself or somebody else, we cant do much. May be an attempt to stand out, but childish at best.

Re: 5th Anniversary ISG2G - Wayanad

My congratulations to all who made possible and participated in this 5th Anniversary ISG2G. 70+ bikes with with riders looking so very purposeful in their riding gear must have been a sight to see. Organizing any such event and coordinating it across the vast distances that are an undeniable feature of our large country is not an easy task. Hats off to the 5 city leads and the other volunteers who put in time, effort and money to get this meet up and swinging.

The meet-up locales seem beautiful - post-monsoon Kerala is a study in green it seems. And going by the ride descriptions that have come up as yet, on-road discipline seems to have been a high point of it all. Great!

One small suggestion to those who want some post-mortem explanations. This was a purely voluntary meet and so even if you have certain questions that you would like answers to, please ASK for them. DEMANDING them as if it is your God granted right is not just an attack on someone's integrity and dignity but also leaves an after-burn of bad feelings for a long time. Any event is as much a living experience as it is a learning one. And that holds true for everyone involved. Please make sure you do not 'accuse or abuse' the ones who volunteered just because you did not like the way something was done. The usual consequence of such an approach is that you have no one interested in doing the same thing another time. Remember - all wisdom is 20/20 hindsight. The goodness experienced as well as the lessons learnt can be quantified and elaborated upon for posterity.

My heartiest congratulations again to all of you riders who made this possible for real. Ride long, ride safe and ride together.

Since one cup of tea there costs Rs.35/- I think the rent too will be high.

Voting on accommodation place is not practical. It is for the O team to decide since they are more familiar with the location.
Also in this situation there cant be any break up figures. Most probably this 2 days stay was got as a package...and the resort is unlikely to give split figures.

Yes i agree....if you had hired an Event Management team.
Do you know that every year the "so called O Team" spent their own money travelling to & fro to the destination just to scout the area and several hotels ? No one sponsors or reimburses them the expense for that. They choose the best available option within the budget.Same was done here and unfortunately we had last minute issues with the selected venue which was explained clearly time and time again before and during the ride.
I think an account of the expenditures VS reg fees would put an end to this ill feelibg. O team.. pls look into it. I hate having a bad taste after the wonderful time we all had there.

Re: 5th Anniversary ISG2G - Wayanad

i couldn't make it due to personal reasons, and i was with G2G since from inception , let me put few words here.

First , it always fun to meet ppl face to face whom you only interact online with there nick names and when searching for accommodation first thing organizers will check is safe parking place for 70+ bikes and decent stay, otherwise for small numbers of ppl its easy to get cheap accommodation.

Now the place we select is also plays major role in price, if go with very hyped places its usual to get costly quotes for stay. there may be cheaper stays but for the hour of need one has to sacrifice in terms of money.

i don;t think its an issue of discussion here as we know there is last min change of venue and it might be lil overpriced . but G2G was success that matters

now whoever part of ride , post the pics

I also have same to add. G2G was a success. appreciation to EVERYONE. As Old Fox said, for higher expectations, an event management team is the answer. No doubt. As few think its not about ILL FEELING at all...neither about accuse/abuse to people who SACRIFICED time for larger sake...

Had a nice time with all the brothers... got to know some new faces and so glad I was able to ride with such a group of guys who think bikes..
First I really thought the food and accommodation was a bit cheesy.. Then I remembered what I paid for it, so that makes perfect sense.. two days stay with 3 meals in such a nice ambiance is more than one could ask for. So thanks for everyone involved in arranging everything and making this event a success.

Those who are sitting in their arm chair at home will never understand what exactly goes in the background. Try organizing a meet and only then you get educated. We have been managing this event for years and spent money from our own pocket. Just attending one meet and don't even know what has gone into the arrangements, who was behind for what, doesn't warrant to reason out all of your questions. If you have found anything wrong, feel free to discuss. There are educated and matured members understand in this community to support such meets. Thank you.

^ I wonder where I stated that we should bring in an event management team for higher expectations?

My one line suggestion to those interested in a post-operative slug-fest - It is a lot better not to jump into the boxing rink that having to roll with the punches later.

A retrospective discussion on what was good or bad about an event needs to be discussion and suggestion oriented instead of making it a field day for nit-picking and criticism. You can never turn back the clock. And as I've stated earlier, it was a voluntary event where everything - from contribution to participation - was voluntary. For the ones who feel that the event was a total disappointment, a waste of time and money and that the organizers' efforts were a sham - folks this is a working democracy and you can walk out of the proceedings anytime you feel fit. Your feeling so negates everything including the very concept of getting together and riding together and so you probably have nothing constructive to add here.

A healthy discussion that explores possibilities of making such a G2G bigger and better in the coming years is always welcome. And the best people to collate and systemize the feedback are the ones who already have considerable experience in organizing such events. So please let's not make it a grisly blood-smeared autopsy of what was. Let's make it a happy positive beginning of how things can be even better in the years to come.

I would think this is the game of some people with vested interests to bring bitter feeling in the group and cause conflicts. Cleartrip | Flights, Hotels, Packages, Buses, Trains check the rates in wayanad and then make the "accusations". I dont think we should be involved in deeper debate on this nonsense.

The last minute Resort change was a major setback but the organising team worked day and night and arranged for another resort, which in my personal opinion was very very good.

The place was spacious with safe parking, rooms were clean and all facilities provided. The Food could have been better but no complaints coz of the sudden change in venue, this was the best that could be managed by any body.

Over all I was very happy with the arrangements and enjoyed every minute of the trip and personally feel the cost is justified.

Well to each his own.. This is my opinion, others might differ but we need to put ourselves in others shoes before we jump to any conclusions.

Good job KL team

Cheers

Hope no one makes this a boxing ring. All I asked was how did the 1st resort got changed. Reply was, that resort got maintenance issues. From photos, that resort seemed apt for 70+ riders.
What I wish to know is,why didn't the resort tell it before as its against the customers interests. If they had,our organizers could have got time and chosen better one.
Im not complaining that the present one was bad. But compared to 1st, not upto the mark. Again it depends on person to person,I think.
A room for 8-9 people can be taken as example. Hence I asked...registration fees vs accommodation.
Not in a sense to hurt anyone.
Our organizers could manage a cheaper option if they had more time after the 1st resort went off.

Can a resort simply walk off after taking booking?I hope this question is not non sense and has more to do with customer rights. Hope to get some knowledge.

Repeating what has been said. The previous Resort only notified us about their issues 2 days prior to the event. We were completely taken by surprise, shock & anger but there wasn't much we could do apart from pushing them to get it ready. Parallely we were desperately checking for alternatives. Do you know what kind of tension we had fearing the fact that the previous resort had taken advance from us?Similarly we had lots of other issues that will stem out from this. Finally we sorted everything at the last minute.

And just curious ,have you been to the first resort to state for a fact that it was better than the current one? Also man..organizing such an event with the kind of budget..you aren't going to get a so much better alternative..Yes here and there things might be better but that's about it.

Yes ,its a customer rights issue..we had plans to deal with them but honestly we are all exhausted from all the planning etc that we don't want to spend more time on this. But there is something you can do..go to TripAdvisor and everyone can vote them down and leave your complaints there..that hopefully will teach them a lesson.

This was my first ISG2G and I loved it all the way. The hospitality was great, the food was also good and considering the fact that there were last minute changes, I must say, the organizers have did a wonderful job to make sure the meet went on without any trouble. Organizing events like this is not an easy task. Kudos to the KL team for making this happen. And regarding the change of resort, I was very happy with the place that we stayed at and I feel its worth every single penny that was spent. I'm looking forward for the next ISG2G which I should be able to attend(hopefully ).
