well i think the design is perfect and sorry that phani didn't explain the design , the design represent the Kodagu district symbol , let me explain in a line.

the Gun , kurki, and knife/sword represent the heritage of the kodagu district and this district is one in karnataka which associated more with serving in Army from very long period even before Independence.

we should follow hence forward similar tradition.

Now that ISGTG is just around the corner, thought let me just post a general touring check list, mainly for the benefit of the people who are not that accustomed to long rides.

Firstly want to congratulate everyone who has made some time for ISGTG KODAGU 2015.
Few things I wanted to Make it clear before the start of the ride. Not sure how many are riding XBHP/Big Group/Long Distance for the first time. This post is ideally to cater to that audience. Well then let me start with the basics.

First and Foremost: Riding Gears:
Helmets: Full face helmets are a MUST. Cap type ones and sub standard road side helmets are not accepted.
Jackets: Preferably armoured jackets. If not then a thick protective jacket to protect your skin in case of an impact.
Riding Gloves: Proper riding gloves which cover all the fingers. Cycling/Snooker/Half gloves are a big NO No.
KneeProtection: In case you are not using riding pants.
Shoes: If not a proper riding shoe, any leather/thich material shoe with ample amount of protection. As far as possible, avoid sport shoes, as the level of safety they offer is minimal. Chappals/Sandals as a strict No-No.

Vehicle Documents:
Valid Driving License
PUC(Pollution Under Control) Certificate.
Proper Registeration Documents for the bike.
Valid Insurance Papers.


Group Riding: Meet Schedule(For all teams)
Day 1 : Reach the Resort.
Day 2: Ride to Bhagamandala in the morning. Come back for Lunch. Start for Mandalpatti post lunch. (Bhagamandala is entirely dependent on weather conditions. )
Day 3 Start from Madikeri and head to individual cities.
Note: The onward and return journey routes will be decided by the SPOCS after consulting with the respective teams. So any doubts on that, catch hold of your SPOC.

Things to be kept in mind while riding: Tool Kit essentialsMedical kit essentials:Table content Source: On the road

Note:
These are recommended medicals, kindly consult your physician for any allergies for self before consuming them.

General Touring Essentials:
1.Socks(preferably cotton)
2.Thermal wear(which looks like a t-shirt and tight fit pants) from Jockey/Amul. This consumes less space in your luggage also keeps you very warm, instead of carrying those heavy space consuming sweat shirts and sweaters.
3.Balaclava(preferably cotton)
4.Rain gear.
5.Towel (1 big, 1 small)
6.Clothes and Toileteries (personal Preference)
7.Polythene bags to segregate used and unused clothes. Also to collect the thrash of your journey to dispose it at a proper place.
8.Toilet paper( a Small roll)
9.Glass cleaners like Colin/Mr.Muscle(small bottle) along with a micro fibre/soft cotton cloth to wipe your Helmet visors when required.
10.Wet tissues.
11.Few Newspapers if you are touring in the rains. Dumping news papers into those wet shoes and left overnight can dry your shoes to a good extent.
12.Puncture repair kit and foot/electronic pump. Spare tubes in case of tube type tyres).
13.Have your contact details and emergency contacts on a visible area(inside of a saddle bag/tank bag)
14.Wrap your electronics in a ziplock cover to avoid moisture.
15.Spare Keys
16.MOst importantly, bike Documents.
17.Prefer Cash over Debit/credit card.
18.carry a spare mobile phone with good roaming facility.
19.A torch.
20.A small umbrella, If touring during rains.


A thing or Two about Packing/Luggage fasteing: Key aspects to be looked into while loading the saddle: Since its raining cats and dogs out there, request you guys to pay more attention to the following:
1. Tyres: Make sure you have at least more the 50% of the thread left. Bad tyres are big no during rains, considering your own as well as feloow rider's safety.
2.Good rain gear: Unless you want to more around in dripping wet clothes, invest in good rain gear. Stay away from 100-200 bucks rain wear off the streets.
3. Water Proofing your luggage: Soaked clothes dont feel fine to start a day's ride.
