  • Had a ride of my life, a very eventful ride. Myself and riders Navin and Sujesh started from Perumbavoor. We waited for riders Swaroop and Ajmal who were supposed to join us at Perumbavoor at 8.But as usual Saroop was on exact time. So we three decided to start the fide without Ajmal and Swaroop and decided to wait for them at Neriyamangalam. We waited there for about an hour. Still no signs of both. So we decided to continue. It was a great ride, the roads were perfect till we reached lower part of Munnar. Again a long wait for Swaroop and Ajmal. This time they didn't disappoint, thus we 5 started again heading towards Munnar. Had food from a hotel at Munnar and again continued the ride. There was a damn traffic block at the Mattuppetti dam. We were heading to top station and on the way it happened. A bloody Honda City driver took a u turn right at the exit of a curve and the car hit Swaroop. He got an injury on his knee . the fault was with the car driver. He turned suddenly and even without an indication. Swaroop was taken to hospital in the same car. The driver settled the hospital bills and payed him the compensation for the damages in the bike. Navin and Ajmal accompanied Swaroop to the hospital and myself and Sujesh were given the duty of Security for the bikes We waited at the spot for almost 4 hours. Couldnt resist our temptation to ride to the Echo Point. Superb roads and even better curves. We both rode to echo point, had a Maggi Noodles there and returned to the spot. Again a long wait. By 5.30 Swaroop and team arrived in an auto. We had a walk around his bike. The bike got some serious damages. The gear lever got curled, the left mirror got broken, the side stand was damaged, no foot peg , gear shifting impossible with Curled gear lever, handle bar bend, Broken meter console.Swaroop then left the place in the auto with his injured knee and we three and Ajmal in Swaroop's bike returned to the hotel. For the first time in my life I saw a rider shifting the gear by hand. Swaroop took a room at the hotel. We parked his bike there and started our ride back by 8. Stopped near Adimali for a glass of coffee. Thanks to Ajmal for the coffee Again started from there. The road was filled with thick fog. For me it was the first experience riding in the fog. We were riding behind a police jeep.It lead the way through the fog. Again stopped at a petrol pump.I too got down and somehow I lost my bike key at the petrol pump. It fell down from my pocket. We searched around and found it lying near the toilet. We were already too late and all these were adding more and more to it. The rain had a halt and after some 10 minutes the rain was back and this time it was really heavy. Literally nothing could be seen. We wanted to reach home somehow. And for the 1st time in my life I got tired and sleepy while riding. Couldn open the eye as the damn rain was rushing in. And again it happened, near to Perumbavoor, Sujesh braked hard at a hump and slipped in the wet road. He lifted the bike and was ready to ride in a moment. He got some scratches on his knees. The crash guard of his Unicorn got damaged and his mirror got a crack. Again a ride from there. I reached home by 10.30 and got confirmation from other riders when they reached home by 11.30. Thats all about our Munnar ride. Will never forget this ride in my life. So everyone this should be a lesson for you all. Always have proper protection while you ride

      • Knee is very dangerous. Last April, met with an accident on my ct 100 and my left knee slipped off. It took two months for me at least to bend my knee a little. Still now i can't bend it fully as i can do with right knee.
