^^ :The recommended time to go is June-September. Flights ply through the year though. There are people who've flown in early May and ridden around, so even that's possible.
As for the roads opening, the actual dates depend on quantum/timing of snowfall:- Manali Road: Rohtang usually opens for civilian traffic around the first week of May for heavy vehicles.
- Srinagar Road: Zoji La is the tough section. Opens by mid May or thereabouts.

I remember you saying that the roads to Hedvi were not good.If that's the case then you will hard time with your R15 on way to Leh(Personally I believe anybike can reach any place).Originally posted by ketan_r15 View PostMan..m dying like anything for the Leh trip but money prob may keep me away from the ride. Also m a lill skeptical about R15 reaching Leh. Not because of any engine prob or rider prob but the tyres and rims are not meant for it u know. Lill off roading here and there is another thing and reaching world's highest motorable point if different thing.

Errr..sorry to say but i didn't get the meaning of this ride..Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostIf that's the case then you will hard time with your R15 on way to Leh(Personally I believe anybike can reach any place).
And that's very true.. infact i myself had written the same thing a few pages back or may b in tourer's section that it's never the ride..it's the rider that makes the difference and thus one can easily think of taking an R15 to leh.. but the thing is Even if I haven't had any problem with the rim there are I think thousands of people cribbing about the Rims and tyres. Forget rims.. talking bout just the tyres, I myself have experienced very little grip on gravelled roads and lose sand. And seeing the pictures, I wrecken Leh roads are like a sea of such roads.
And also my bike is considerably new.. and m sure she'll definitely take an aweful lot of beating thru this journey. And I am a lill worried bout this thing as well(bike being new).
Anyways... thoughts are thoughts..
As of my case... as a rider..as me at 2 o clock in the night n m ready for Leh trip...
Thanx for writting though..
Hope to meet u on Sun in Pune...Ketan Nikharge.

Riding on Leh in any bike takes a lot of toll on the bike.Your R15 will not be any different but the difference here will be that the rider will get more battered as compared to say a ZMA or a P220.So if you are planning to take R15 to Leh make sure that the trip is relaxed.Originally posted by ketan_r15 View PostAnd also my bike is considerably new.. and m sure she'll definitely take an aweful lot of beating thru this journey. You pointing towards ride comfort and posture?Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostRiding on Leh in any bike takes a lot of toll on the bike.Your R15 will not be any different but the difference here will be that the rider will get more battered as compared to say a ZMA or a P220.So if you are planning to take R15 to Leh make sure that the trip is relaxed.

If that's the case then m a lill against that statement..
Sure..Zma n P220 r some of the finest touring bikes but for me R15 is the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden till date.. In these departments I believe in personal experiences/opinions..
To support my statement I'll tell u guys.. B4 buying R15 I owned a P200. P200's posture is quite similar to that of P220 if not exactly the same. Also suspension set up and tyres are also the same as that of P220. I have done many long rides on P200 too. But the story was completely different on R15. When I rode to Goa on my P200, I was dead tired and almost was standing on foot rest by the end of the journey. But on R15, I was quite fresh and could have easily gone a few extra kms. For me, R15's ride comfort is way better than Pulsar's, dunno the reason..may b just my personal opinion and that's what counts.
Anyways..thanx for the comments...Ketan Nikharge.
