Update from Ketan received yesterday 16.6.2011 at 8.00 pm -

At mandi tonight. One of the worst days. Rohtang La road was pathetic. Toadd to it, 2 huge landslides at 2 different places causing miles of traffic jam. Rode in horrible mud and slush to bypass traffic jam.

Finally relaxing at mandi. Tomorrow delhi. Spiti route still not open - Source : PWD

Rohtang never changes.. Its always a PITA

Just a piece of info: Technically, Rohtang is not 'La' but rather 'Jot' Its in Himachal so the language is different from Ladakh which is the land of La's

My bike gave me some trouble on our Pelhar dam trip which is the first time it did so because of the rain [it has given me numerous troubles in the past but not coz of rain ever].

you have the option of using plastic tank covers. it is readily available in any bike parts shop. but that damages the paint considerably. so better u go for a cap kind of cover which is fitted just over the petrol tank lid. it has a zip. i will cost 30 rs & another 20 bucks to get it fit.

then u may use a handle cover which protects headlight & all the switches, meter console etc. it also prevents water entering the cluth cable sheath.
