I live in Thane and can meet you anywhere in Mumbai if you can teach me.

Ready to pay Rs.10,000 if you can teach me how to ride and get me confident. I don't know how long it will take. A week? I'm ready to show up and spend all day and night learning. It would have to be your bike or something I can rent as I don't own one. But I do have a valid license.

Anyone interested? Please PM me your phone number. Thanks in advance.

It's something I've always wanted to learn and I want to get it right and give it my best shot this time... I'm moving to Goa soon and would rather ride a Bullet (or Activa!) than buy a car.

PS: Also open to heading to Goa for a week just to learn. Would be a shame to not drink there though...

Its not so difficult.. I learnt riding a bike after getting my thunderbird.. Just go out every night.. Make sure you ride 3 kms atleast.. Keep doing this religiously and you will see ur own confidence building in 3 weeks. Don't go beyond 3rd gear during this period...

This is the routine I followed. And now I've done 12600 kms in 11 months, which includes daily commute in city traffic 260kms per week, numerous breakfast rides and one isg2g to velneshwar..

I you want some company to ride with you, I'd be glad to tag along for short slow rides in thane at nights..

          Let me know.

Sent from my WT19i using xBhp Connect mobile app

I actually managed to fall off the bike twice lol. Finally they seemed to be content to get rid of me by having me ride it 100 meters within the RTO compound.

Thanks, but like I said I don't have a bike... night is a good idea definitely. Before my ghost sighting I used to love going out at nights. Best time in bombay is the night.

And re: the gear, my problem really is at the slower speeds and slowing down/braking due to lack of balance.

            Also, what's isg2g?

              Hello to all
Today was travelling from vasai to mulund in the VVMT public transport bus,and was shocked to see the driving skills of this driver
This driver was driving on the wrong side of the national highway middle lane 70kmph approx.
Because the road towards thane was blocked for a few minutes due to a crack on a bridge towards thane.
Attaching a video clip u can see few vehicles coming really close and its just a accident waiting to happen

Guys please be carefull on NH8 till the bridge work is over https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkfj...ature=youtu.be

Shocking. But the bus will be fine, as it's bigger the better/might is right in this country. I fear for the other vehicles though. I had a bus scrape my car once and physically hit me sideways once as well. The 2nd time I was walking back home after having done grocery shopping and the eggs that I was carrying broke and ruined all the other groceries and to top it all off it was raining. I took my rage out on the driver who showed no remorse at all, and of course nothing happens to the bus drivers, they are just cited or given a warning at most. Has anyone else heard the legend about "3 murder maaf" rule for Mumbai bus drivers? I wonder how much truth that has to it.

Anyway the bus in the video at least looks well ventilated and not overcrowded. In peak hours the buses aren't any better than the trains with people packed in like sardines. I once foolishly took the Thane transport bus on Ghodbunder road for a short distance and was amazed at how people survive that ordeal day after day. It is cruel. Even animals shouldn't be subjected to such conditions.

surprisingly nobody on that bus was worried for their lives and were enjoying the wind through their hair, Dad and myself were angry noted the bus number, badge number and have videos
                  will atleast lodge a complaint
my main aim was to alert our biker community and others who watch it.
one more video is being uploaded on youtube in which the bus is clearly heading towards motorcyclist and one i20 car...

Shockingly, neither the government or the RTO takes these incidents seriously. It's like just another day for them. Lot of people complaint to the cops, even FIR but nothing happens. If it's some accident then a cheap settlement happens and the driver is let go but no serious action is taken.

Since it's a forum, I don't wanna abuse but looking at these turds drive, I seriously feel like slapping them on their face!!

                      Hi,

Instead of paying Rs.10,000 to your brothers, I would suggest to spend 15-18K and get a 100cc used bike for learning purpose. The reason is, many people over here will teach you but they would always want you to have your own bike.

                        Also, what's isg2g?
                        1. You need a low cc bike or a Bike with Low pickup atleast. Any mechanic can do that for you even if you feel the pickup is a bit irritating in low speed for you.

                        2. Buy those Knee Guards Beginner Bikers use. Cost some 700-800. and use them over your jeans. They will surely save your knees when falling.
                        Use shoes too.

                        3. Try to be in 1st to 3rd Gear even when its a empty straight road.

                        4. Do not fall for empty roads or for people around you saying Speed up. Stay calm and relaxed.

                        5. Try to take U- Turn in your lane / empty road. that will teach you the use of Brake, clutch, legs, and Handling too.

                        6. Find a Park / Empty ground. Falling on Grass or Sand is always better than Charcoal.

Telling this all from my Experience of riding bike.

Where in Mumbai are you. ?
                        If near Kandivali.
Let me know. No need of 10k. Just come along with your bike and buy a Chilled Cold Drink on the way :P
Its too hot these days -_-

Very sound advice, much appreciated. But whoever manages to train me correctly really deserves the rs10,000 lol. I am open to buying a used bike but the Goa trip sounds a lot more fun and bikes are very affordable to rent there (few 100 rupees/day). Bharat has PM'd me and I will be in contact with him tomorrow to see how it goes, but if anyone is up for Goa do get in touch.

I'm staying at Thane (Hiranandani estate) and come to Sion and Chembur twice a week. I can travel to Kandivali too.
