If you really want to bring awareness to the masses, the flyers should have been in 2 languages.. English and marathi. We dont want just the "English Speaking" population of Pune to wear helmets. A story of the R15 fellow how was hit by a stone on his head on the 1st day he got his bike on the flyer would have been good content (of course with his permission).

Finally, wheelieboy I think has done other events, and he understands the importance of getting your event talked about over the local FM radio. That was absent too. (I mean even we had arrangements for our College events with Radio Mirchi Pune.) How do you plan to bring awareness by only riding around on the road on a sunday when almost 65% of the people don't even leave their homes. How is it that even guys from association like PARA don't have any contacts with radio people (Or they didn't bother to use them). To top it all, the paper covering us doesn't even bother to give us a side note.

Anyways, the arrangements for the bikers were well made. Thanks to the efforts of Moto Cafe management. But i feel the event could have done much better in terms of reaching the people, the masses of Pune if a little care was taken in planning.

I hope these points would be considered if and when more such events/rides are arranged in the future. This was my 1st xBHP G2G / Ride and the above was what I truly and frankly found amiss. And i dont want people to feel I am just whining or crying. I would be happy to contribute in whatever way possible to any of the future events.

Finally, I feel, though the event was succesfully conducted, it could have done much better than it did.

Radio was in my list but there were too many complication so i couldnt opt for all these things.

      • Good effort people..
I know that you did not get much acknowledgement but then think about this..

        Every life is PRICELESS

Even if we managed to convince a few people to use helmets which then later save their lives,

        Its a job well done..

        CHEERS TO YOU BROTHERS

Had to give this event a miss because of exams but i really wished to be there

        • today i witnessed 3 2-wheeler accidents in front of my eyes. 2 of them were helmetless. 1 of the helmetless got hit on the head as he was hit from behind by a tata ace.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

          • The way Roadshakers were taking so much responsibility and wanted their members in everything. I was expeting this. Bound to Happen.

Anyways, being optimistic. It was a good initiative. Even, if 1% of the people we recommended to wear a helmet do so, then we made a change. So, Its alright! That was our objective.

But, the thing that still haunts me is the way people have taken things for granted. Their views, their selfish attitudes and logics.

            Some are..

            - They would wear a helmet, if its being distributed for free.
            - Its increases the chance of accidents.

            This is the Best one,

You spoke my mind dude. Remember this is what I had said when we got the fliers in our hand. More emphasis should have been laid on mentioning the actual way how a helmet works in protecting your brain incase on an accident. Just telling people to wear helmet, wont make sense, unless they are made understand what are the advantages in wearing one.And yes the fliers should have been atleast in Hindi if not Marathi.
Remember the time when sex was safe and motorcycles were dangerous.

They were taking so much responsibility because they deserved it. they are any time well organised, most imp thing they knew the route, they gave more than 100% for the event, not only by participating also by getting media, permission, even post event things,
Now Pune police sued Wheelieboy,Para and Roadshakers for organizing the ride, that prob is solved alone by Baljeet Singh (roadshakers).

Well i am happy that we did such a wonderful event but also hurt by useless point like clashes between group etc, so what if they were leading? so what if they were told to take the charge? we were there for the cause and we are successful in achieving our goal don't you think we should be happy with this?

Getting associated with Roadshakers is privilege, i am not promoting any group but this is one of the most reputed and organised Biking group.

I think our views were misinterpreted here. Its good that Roadshakers were acknowledged for their efforts in the event, but my reaction was to the initial thing I saw in Pune Newsline which had no mention at all of xBHP. There is no point in clashing amongst each other when we all were supporting a bigger common cause.

At the event, we weren't xBHP or Roadshakers or anyone else. We all were bikers who wanted to promote safe riding and use of helmets. But if some groups were acknowledged, and others were not, thats a bit of injustice. Nobody here had anything against Roadshakers according to me. The above comments were against the attitude shown by the people towards all of us as a single group.

P.S.: If Pune police did sue xBHP / PARA / Wheelieboy, it would have been because we failed to secure prior permission for the event i.e. lack of preparation as per my previous post.

P.P.S.: A friend of mine + his cousin met with an accident on a CBZ in Kothrud about 22 hours ago and both couldn't survive the crash. Not to mention both were helmetless. You guys will probably read about it in tomorrow's paper. Moral of the story: What good is helmet awareness if you can't even make your friends aware.
