    My Observations...

    - There were few cases when the rider moves in front of the vehicle in highway just after overtaking. Please avoid this.

    - Observed one rider in the slow group with out rear view mirror turning behind looking for vehicles before overtaking or switching lanes. Would be nice if everyone can have their RVM installed for the ride.

    @John/Praful,
Should be make the RVM mandatory for the ride this week??

Was so used to riding without RVM that forgot to put it back on for the pre ride, yercaud ride will have me see YOU thru my vehicle RVM

BTW - that is a good point, i knw how much i missed my RVM... will have it in place for the main ride...

Sunday's pre-ride was a good one for newbies for learning the ropes of group riding, especially in a large group with the proper formations and use of hand signals. Some of the points that I would like to mention:

      1. The formation (staggered / single file) was pretty good in the slow group.
      2. Like others said, the leader must speed up during overtaking to let the others also overtake comfortably.
      3. I somehow felt that the 'slow' group's speed was a little too slow. There were times when there was no traffic but still we were riding at or below 70kph. At this speed, the trucks try to overtake us. It gets scary when they do so, especially when the truck is holding up faster cars behind it!! So, maintaining a speed above 70 would be better, whenever it is safe to do so.

The leader should provide enough space for the other bikes to slot in while overtaking. He can switch to the other lane after the other rider overtook the behind trailing vehicle. Turn Signal alone used just before he switches the lane to signal the safe over taking and also it alerts the other riders to calculate the distance and lane changing point considering the next rider's safety.

The above will not be possible in all the cases. In some cases in the traffic. The leader can quickly overtake the trailing vehicle and signal the other rider about the risk by using both hand signal and turn signal. It warns the next rider to overtake on his own.

Look at the attached images for better idea.
Good illustration to show how to overtake vehicles and signaling.

          My cents on the observations:

          1. The formation was excellent, this was my first ride in a formation and thoroughly enjoyed it...was amazed to see the indisciplined biker in me getting disciplined

          2. I was just behind Eric (leader of Slow group) and I must say he was doing an excellent job in giving me space while overtaking and also in showing the signals..

          3. Even I agree to this, but we had a couple of folks who had their rides in "Run Ins" and they had already suggested that they would stick to 50-60, may be that was the reason why Eric chose to go slow..
          Thanks,
          Arni

            yah..
next time , i will try to speed up and give more space for another bikes

and in "slow group" have some bikes can take only maximum speed 50-60 km/h and i cant lose them that why i took speed 50-60 and max 70 km/h
But in D-Day i can sure will have 4-6 "speed group" and u can choose group for uf self

Thx all for the congratulation "pre-ride" day

some bikes albiet capable of going at 90's are better off at 60-70 because anything above that, it will be difficult for panic braking, the drum brakes are scary after 80! this is what i felt riding my dad's zeus, usually i dont get scared even at 150, i have that much confidence on my bike. this is the reason the slow group was that slow but only on a couple of occassions, we were too slow i.e. 40-50 just avoid that Eric other than that good leadership by you and hand signals were very good!

              WEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH..

                      • Aaah...I was the reason for all you guys holding onto your horses. Apologise to everyone for that but riding slow ain't that bad .

Couldn't really do much more than 50-60 but it's all good now. Thanks to the ride I managed to complete the kms and now looking forward to the weekend.

But kudos to Eric for leading the slower group so well. Everyone was Very very disciplined indeed and since I was at the back of the group, the formation made for a wonderful sight. We need to do it all over again next weekend too

                        • Guys from the fast group, just wanted to know what speeds did your speedo show at that one place where there was huge down slope and I guess everyone (atleast I was! ) had crouched.

Just want to see the accuracy of all your speedo's, don't make this a bragging match . We had R15/220/ZMA/ZMR/RTR180 all tailing me so if you all did crouch and go wide open throttle post up how much your speedo touched.

I touched 115 kmph on my A150 by crouching but not for prolonged period.
