We 2-3 members from kolkata might visit south India coming October.
We've chalked out a basic day to day plan of our trip -


Day 1 - kanyakumari
Day 2 - Allapuza
Day 3 - Allapuza (extra stay)
Day 4 - Munnar
Day 5 - Munnar (extra stay)
Day 6 - Kodai
Day 7 - Kodai (extra stay)
Day 8 - Pondicherry
Day 9 - Pondi (extra stay)
Day 10 - Chennai.

Any sort of help and suggestions regarding off beat places, sight scenes. routes and stays are welcome.

Presuming that you're riding, I'd suggest an alternative.

Day 1:

Start from Kanyakumari after the Sunrise, head towards Kuttanad but not via the NH, opt for the coastal route(many forts, beaches and the works enroute) from Trivandrum to Kollam and make sure to have a look at the Tangy Fort and Lighthouse at Kollam before resuming on the NH towards Kuttanad, ride around Kuttanad to get the feel of Kerala backwaters and then head for Munnar and get a room at Devikulam.

Day 2:

Start early, visibility will be crap but after witnessing the sunrise at Devikulam head for Top Station(Not worth the trouble but its a generic spot to visit,hence suggesting, though honestly I hope you'd skip this) and after that head for Kodai via Marayoor, there's the Chinnar Wildlife Scancuary enroute and many more sights enroutel, stop by the Amaravati Crocodile Farm and then its off to Kodai for the night.

Day 3:

Start late after breakfast, and set your maps for Dindigul Thalappakati Biriyani at Dindigul, after having a tummy full of Biriyani head for Auroville and roam around a bit, also make sure to have the Pizza at Tanto's and head to Pondy for the night.

Day 4:

Roam around Pondy for the day and leave just about the time your tummy starts to rumble cause food ain't cheap in Pondy, head for Chennai at a leisurely pace via the ECR Road and keep your speeds in check and stay under the cop radar cause the place is swarming with them, and one you've reached Chennai that's that.

If you'd included Salem in your plans then you could spend a night there and also get to ride by Yercaud and have dinner at Selvi Mess at Salem, the food varieties is just awesome!
