The company had acquired Kinetic Motor Company Ltd in 2008 and renamed it as Mahindra 2Wheelers. In 2010 they had launched the Mojo and Stallio. But only the Stallio hit the roads. Mahindra has scooters selling in the market currently.
In 2011 Mahindra entered the 125cc 2-Stroke championship of the Motogp series. After a relatively successful first year, the manufacturer struggled in the second year in the Moto 3, 250cc, 4 Stroke category. It is so far the only Indian Motorcycle company to enter the world of racing. The company tastes success in 2012 by winning the Constructors title in the Italian National Motorcycle Racing Championship.
Has the racing experience of Mahindra filtered down into the new launches? Which segment will the company target? Go the Bajaj and Yamaha way of going for the Premium segment first or the HMC way of focussing on commuter motorcycles?
The 67 year old company has its task cut out as it will take on the established players in the market. But with the experience and financial backing that Mahindra possess the company should soon be a name to reckon in the Indian market.
