And some features ordinary bikers will never appreciate as much as pure commuters do, like hazard lights in TVS Phoenix, anti-theft system, immobilizer and find-me lights in Centuro, the large seat in Shine/DreamYuga, etc.

The only thing that put me off from these bikes is the absence of front disc brakes (compulsory in ALL bikes I believe) and Hazard Lights (after 2013 thunderbird and Phoenix 125, I think everyone should start including these) with which Centuro would become the perfect commuter.

Wish doing business was so easy.

Commuters look for "Peace of mind, Reliability, Good consistent mileage, Easy and fast access to Spares and Service and Minimum of fuss on their motorcycles" above anything else.. something which comes from confidence in the brand which has been around for many years and has proven itself. Honda, Hero, Bajaj, TVS has been around for many years and have a strong customer base.. and therefore peace of mind.

Its not impossible for Mahindra to achieve the same.. but it will take a hell lot of effort from their part to do so.

All I can say is Best of Luck.

Agreed. These things will only be known over a period of time

I want to give them a chance. Lets see how things stand 6-12 months after launch

That is exactly what my post said. It "seems" like a not-at-all-crappy-or-mediocre product right now. So why not wait and see if mahindra is able to justify it ?

      Come on..
Same reply as above. Think about this "game" as a "game of cards". First card played was "features at the time of launch". Card played really well and better than everyone else (DY looked too mediocre at time of launch). The remaining cards (like you said reliability, serviceability, consistent mileage, etc) will come out as the game progresses. DY won because of strong follow-up cards after the first card came out.

I don't mind a "told you so" reply when problems start cropping up. But lets give them a fair chance.

Just a small point.. the more features you add, the more are the chances of failures/issues/complaints.

But then I guess to make a mark, you have to do something different.. and right now the features on a 100(110) cc bike seems to be the strategy for Mahindra. Lets see if they can pull this off smoothly.

When does "a whole new range of motorcycles"==2 commuters?

It seems Mahindra wants to follow the naming logic it uses to name its four wheeler for its bikes also. Both the new bikes names ends with 'O'. In scooters it already follow it. (Rodeo and Duro).

I saw an Ad / article of these two bikes in today's newspaper. Both of them are commuter bikes but loaded with some extra-ordinary features which are available in some premium cars. Keys with chip, immobilizer, Night assist headlamp, bike finder, LED tal & turn lights....

Well, the launch does highlight the hard work done by Mahindra on designing the bike, the features of the bike are so unique that I feel the segment towards they have targeted wouldn't give a second thought to buy one!! not to ignore the competition already exist in the market, but the pricing would surely be an advantage on the sales. Indeed a very thoughtful launch. The R&D team deserves a thumbs up!!
