whtevr...... i controlled it..! bt.. it was jus a hairline seperation when da 'Suzuki Zeus' sudnly moved on to da left...

.........I felt a slight tug at my back.........hmm so it was Neil.Actually Neil was at a higher speed than mine bcoz I was just at the back of the truck,I was waiting for the left side to clear,a 18-wheeler was just on my left !!!!!!! Sooner I had enough space,I made a leftward movement to get clear of its back and I dint expected that Neil wud be just at my back...........I dint even know what happened at the back,I just felt a tug and heard brakes screech.I dint brake but increased my speed and increased the distance to avoid further complications(My Left RVM is a real Loser,it bends 180degs under winds ).Actually things like these happens a lot at MotoGP races where racers are crazy to get infront for the best line and hence bang into each other.

But I am very sorry to admit that a race like situation should chance to happen in this kind of group riding.People at back should keep follow of movements of people at front.........even if it means slowing down in group riding doesnt matter........we are not racing for God's Sake.Otherwise incidents like Abir wud follow, where the Amby failed to follow his movements and swept him widout even an attempt to brake. The Amby braked only after Abir was hit and was thrown up on bonnet,in order to avoid complete squashing.

I totally agree wid FireBlah, riding in a group shudnt be a snake dance to prove whos faster on Highways like these

    • i was'nt aware of all this, i dont know why people were speediing ? cause i fully remember not crossing 95 at any given time ?

@sayan yoou are absolutely agree with you, but to be honest one cannot prevent an accident if a rider is not keeping his head calm and using his 5 senses.

Yeah!!!! you are right.....but I think its a official Xbhp ride......and safety should be the 1st prority. The Rider/'s who will Lead and the Rider/'s who will keep eye from back....have to explain everyone here in Xbhp if anything haapens wrong.

P.S. - no offence but there should be Rule for overspeeding and overtaking.

well as i have done all the xBhp G2G's, earlier xBhp had a declaration form earlier saying that xBhp is not responsible for anything. like i said before if the leaders from back and front keep an eye also and the rider makes a mistake one cannot blame anyone. like for instance mach50 and niel's case (no offence). i think every one is old enough to take their own responsibility. yes rules should be told like i did when the G2G started keep 4feet distance, maintain 70-80kmph dont overtake and dont bang into each other, while coming back i told maintain 80-90 dont keep formation but stay with each other. i guess nothin more can be done.

well if at 80-90kmph cruising speeds people cannot keep track of where their speedo is goin, how can u be confident of maintaining a 100kmph cruise speed for Mandarmoni .

I found (no offence to any1) many people less adopted to opening their throttle and closing it in meantime.Bikes tends to pull absolutely fast crossing the given speed limit easily, riders need to control their urge to speed.

In the morning that day,I was absolutely at ease riding wid Gibran, the moment I separated from him during return, all hell broke loose around me.After the slight rear tug incident ,I made all haste to get in touch wid him.

I have to admit now the moment I lost Gibran,we were three bikes then, a black ZMA,Gibran's Bike and myself. The truck infront and the 18-wheeler to our left. The left ward space allowed a good passage for overtake. The ZMA was the first to go,the 18 wheeler narrowed the space,Gibran did a very precise and quick manouvre(only possible on his bike). The 18 wheeler then closed the space.I was left behind the truck and the monster on my left and was riding so-when the later group came with Neil,Fireblah,Onwheels and that was the place where that small bumping occured. So, this was it,we really need to be careful while riding among monsters.

By my leige,Gibran it looks like u have to train NH riding in big groups to most of us.This cannot be done at 100kph speeds, people wud automatically tend to overspeed(most vehicles tend to go top speed at this last throttle twist, the group's average engine size is 180cc which gives a top speed of 120kph in most conditions on such roads) and this time, mark my words, many wud bump into each other. So pls maintain 80kmph avg cruise speed both Up and Down Mandarmoni trip. Its useless to play blame game,we all need to learn.Experienced people have to guide, sounds childish but true.As we mature through these in one to four G2G rides,u will find in countless other trips to come we wud be cruising safely at 100kph anytime.

well i think u are right we need to gather guys in the group who are used to highway riding, niel, myself, and anyone who has been on a highway every now and then ride with new guys so they can get use to the highway.
but for now i need 2 people who can lead the pack and myself and javed(blue zma) will keep a watch from behind

              • Cruising at 100kph with a big group is impossible. There will be different bikes and different kind of riders.

Anyone who will attain next G2G -- Please be very carefull. Highway riding is not what everone does at the city streets. It might happen that you wont get a 2nd chance on the highways...

My personal thought-- I have been on the highways for quite long. So if the group is big you can divide it into parts. Every rider should follow whatever speed the leader (leading the group) decides. I am pretty much sure all of the riders are not experienced. Its quite common. Please keep safe distance between fellow riders as well as other vehicles. If at any point any rider is not in a condition to ride more, please stop (not the whole group, but some of you). Please listen to those who are quite experienced on higways.

I pray for Abir's quick recovery.

One thing more--- Rules are not going to to help if anyone is not self aware. (I agree with Gibran)

                • [QUOTE=fireblah;394222]Hope Abir heals quickly. it was a very unfortunate accident.

But guys I have an advice for you all. Make some rules, and no matter what, follow them.
I saw alot of guys riding helter skelter, also once I saw someone on a hero honda ? bang into the yellow karizma guy, while overtaking a truck from left side, as he did not bother to see whats on his left.(nothing happened fortunately)

I hope it was not my HH Hunky. I was very careful in overtaking. If it were me, then I have to be more careful then. Because on highways very small mistakes matters a lot.
Guys, if somebody is making some mistakes on highways, it should be informed to him as a friendly advice(after all we are brothers) and the mistake should not happen again. Suggestions please.

PS- Sorry, I made the comment before reading all the post. But personally, I always welcome all criticism. I don't want to comment on safety issue once again but fello bikers should not talk with each other while riding at 80kmph. I was very much scared when two of my xbhp friends(they were just in front of me while crusing @80 kmph) were talking to each other without looking at the road. I was really scared man. I immediately changed the lane. Brothers please take care of yourself, please be serious while riding. If anything happens to anybody, it gives pain to all of us, after all we are brothers.

                            • Totally safe

Hoping and praying for Abir, i feel so shocked and bad for the incident. In fact i totally agree with what Fireblah said....because i witnessed each and everything that happened as i was the rear ender (the touch and go btw the riders, the stopping of bikes in front of busy traffic without hand signals, racing to go forward without any notion and the accident) and was busy hand signalling to all them. But above all that happened it was still one of my precious gift on my birthday.

                              P.S.:-
a big SORRY to lead you all off roading near the highway but that was some of the shortcuts i knew.

"In case you are wondering Gibran: i am alright and travelled to the cafe with a friend, not riding right now myself"

The 18 or so bikes were scattered for more than 2 kms apart, some were riding properly, others wanted to fly out in the front....
In group riding, it is very important to make rules, and follow them. If someone is not following, warn them and educate them maybe....

I was there seconds after the ill fated accident.... and had seen another biker squashed dead on the highway the same day. It was so sad....
here in India, specially in Kolkata, you have to keep 200% margin... 100 for you and 100 for others as most people have no sense of traffic...

Ride safe, keep yourself and everyone safe......
wish I could ride to mandarmoni, but the road off NH is so pathetic that I would rather charter a helicopter rather than ride there....
