I was one of the many bikers who were stranded in Leh.. After all nature has it's own way.
We had left for Pang on 4th August and got stuck at Pang due to extensive landslides in the region. And I got to hear from ppl arnd that Pang is one place which rarely gets any rainfall. Thankfully we made the right decision to return back to Leh the next day otherwise we would have been stuck there for god knows how many days.
Waited in Leh for 3-4 days for the climate to change. But when it seemed that there was no way out, had to take a flight out of Leh on 9th Aug. Booked Chinar Motor Lines to transport the bike to Delhi. I wish the Manali roads open soon so that out bikes reach Delhi before the roads are closed for the season. Still keeping fingers crossed, as this time the weather has really been very unpredictable.
Some pics of Leh, after the disaster.

p.s : would be writing a log soon enough. This surely was an experience to remember( almost dying of freezing cold, staying in Army Transient camps/ RCC huts with 18 ppl in one room..damn.. I'll remember these 16 days forever !)

@xtreme_rider: There is such a thin line between life and death! Thank god that you came back unscathed, though mentally it must be quiet traumatic.

Exactly what I thought the morning I woke up..we were sleeping just 1 km away from where the disaster struck !
I myself helped in the relief operation. It was painful to see the bodies coming out of the rubble.
You won't believe, we guys didn't sleep the next night. Woke up till 5 am and then went to bed, only after seeing a clear(enough) sky. Man those 3-4 days changed my perspective, totally !

@xtreme.rider: Reading about such a disaster and experiencing it first-hand are two different things altogether. We cannot even fathom the kind of weather, conditions, etc. that you must have experienced during these days.

Yes, the weather this year has been seriously freakish. I just hope this is not the start of something serious, on the climate front. Good to learn that you are back safe and sound. Bike, I am sure, will reach 'home' eventually.

Hey guys me and my friends have now seriously started planning for a leh trip and i want some advise regarding the same....
we are gonna be 3 riders with 2 bikes, a p220 and a p180...
please help us sort out following queries...
Aim: visit khardungla , experience heaven on the way and return alive to tell the tale
Query#1- money required
Whats the least amount of money required to tour from delhi to khardung la including all expenses?
(note we are students so are tight on money matter)
query#2- best month?
Between may and august what is the best month to travel to leh?
query#3- will it be okay to take a bike which has run just 2000kms?
Query#4- how many days do you think we must plan for?
Query#5- route?
thanx for your time...
(ps- tips on how to convince parents would be welcome )
